Hello everyone,
Sorry we’ve been so quiet. I (Daniel) suffered a serious concussion in a car accident and have been out of commission for the past six months. Because of this, we had to cancel our recording sessions we had planned this past fall.

I’m hoping to be fully recovered by the summer so Damian and I can get back to work on a new record. Once that’s finished, we’re looking forward to getting back on the road again and seeing all of you again.

In the meantime, please check out Damian’s project in Brooklyn, NY, FUNSUCKER (make sure to spell it as one word when you look it up on Spotify). It’s a fantastic band. @funsuckermusic

Hugs to everyone. We love you and hope to see you soon.

Trees Speak - PostHuman

Groovy electronic going on from @treesspeak

I like to gamble with music. I don’t use any form of streaming at home, only my works account which helps free time to organise vinyl. I hardly [if at all] do any form of pre-listening to judge whether I like it.
This was a good gamble!

Is it robots? Are they people being controlled by robots?
Either way, it’s a lovely listen of funky, jazz, electronic dwellings. It feels as if I’m on an assembly line in a 1970’s era Sci-Fi film, waiting to be assimilated into the collective

Here’s a short interview we did a few years back.

Trees Speak: Sonic Visionaries Bridging the Past and Future

“Each session also includes pieces written and improvised in the moment.”

What led to the formation of Trees Speak?
Daniel Martin Diaz: Trees Speak began by chance. Damian and I spent a summer recording in a Tucson art gallery, aiming to create experimental minimalist music. We recorded over an hour of live, unstructured tracks short, emotional pieces akin to library music. We posted them online, and Marco from Cinedelic Records (Italy) reached out to release them on vinyl. We admired the label’s aesthetic and said yes.

What other projects have you worked on?
After our debut, we released Others @others_music with Lesli Wood and Vicky Brown, a witch-psych synth record blending dulcimers, violins, and vintage synths. A follow-up is in discussion.

Tell us about your 2017 debut.
That release drew unexpected press and attention. It made us realize we had something worth pursuing.

Do you follow a specific mantra when making music?
We never want to bore ourselves. If something doesn’t resonate, we drop it. We also prioritize recording live, no editing or quantizing, to preserve the raw, human element.

Your creative process?
We each bring 10 or so ideas to the studio and develop them live. We also improvise pieces on the spot for transitions.

Memories from Ohms?
Ohms had no fixed concept, just fragments that formed a vision. We used only ’70s synths, amps, Neve gear, and vintage mics. No MIDI. The JX-3P’s sequencer gave it raw energy.

Essential records?
We love obscure music from the late ’50s–’70s: Italian horror, John Barry, Klaus Schulze, Stockhausen, Cage, and more.

What’s next?
We’re releasing Mind Maze on Soul Jazz Records (London), recorded in Brooklyn in 2022, and preparing for another European tour.

Final thoughts?
We’re deeply grateful for everyone’s support. Trees Speak is more than music to us, it’s an artform and philosophy. Thank you for being part of it.
