Wow, the #amelieshawl is such a beautiful pattern! The brioche border is lovely and adds so much flair ❤️🤍❤️

After winning yarn chicken with both the whirl and strawberry by a very narrow margin, I decided to play it safe with the cream. I ended my shawl after row 34 and finished with a row of slip stitches using a 4mm hook.

I've really enjoyed looking through #acitywalkbook by Tatsiana @lillabjorncrochet while working on this project. The styled finished project photos are so incredibly beautiful and inspiring. And, each pattern is fully written, charted and photographed by row. What a wonderful resource on the art of brioche crochet!

I've just finished the lovely lace section of my shawl from #acitywalkbook. The design is a very generous size and the fabric is so delightfully light and drapey ❤️ At this point, I've finished the 1000m whirl and each side has 283 stitches.

I can't wait to start working on the brioche border which will completely transform the look and texture 🤗🎉

The #amelieshawl from #acitywalkbook is absolutely stunning and I’m so happy to finally be working on it! I'd planned to start this project ages ago and then became completely obsessed with Tatsiana’s fae fleur blanket when it was released. But, now it’s time to take a break and focus on this beautiful pattern 🤗

I decided to carry a copper metallic thread along with the #scheepjes cotton whirl and whirlette to add strength and sparkle. I'm so happy with the result 🙌

In terms of the pattern, the 3 row repeats for the body are relaxing and satisfying and the chart for this section is super helpful. I absolutely love the modern, irregular look of the lace and am looking forward to the challenge of the brioche border ❤️

Did you know: "Healthy corals in nature typically display earthy, muted tones like olive green, brown, tan, and pale yellow. I had some extra yarn from my fae fleur blanket and thought I would take some time to explore the #coralstoryblanket motif. I have loved the look of this design for many years and am so excited to finally be working with it!

I was really surprised by the beauty of the motif after round 22 and took several photos. The organic shapes seem so alive and are truly wonderful.

For hexagon 1, I sequenced the neutral yarns from light to dark as the main colour and used the flow yarn as the contrast colour. I also updated the original border using the "more challenging" border from lesson 2 of Tatsiana's brioche crochet workshop. I really love the texture and minimalist look of this version.

For hexagon 2, I reversed the main and contrast colours. I also reversed the sequence of the neutral yarns from dark to light.

My two hexagons measure 28cm across and weigh ~62g each. The fabric for both is dense yet squishy with a reasonable drape (given my tendancy to crochet on the tight side).

This is such an extraordinary pattern. The motif does take time and concentration. However, it really is easier than it looks and the results are stunning.

It's hard to believe that this photo of a caper white butterfly visiting our garden is almost 10 years old. What a lovely day it was with beautiful shades of yellow 💛

I've decided to take a short break from my fae fleur blanket to start work on a few other wonderful patterns. So, watch this space 🤗🙌 by @treetopsdreaming

I thought it was time to provide another update on my #faefleurblanket. My original plan was to make 16 octagons and 9 squares and use a layout similar to taemombo's lovely aurora fleur. But, now I’ve moved my motifs around and I’ve fallen in love with a different layout. I’ve also started thinking about making 20 octagons and using the complete aurora fleur layout 🤷‍♀️ At any rate, I’ve got plenty of time to decide while I make the triangles, block the motifs and then weave in ends, which will take me forever (I’m not joking) 😂🐌

I’ve been so inspired by everyone’s blankets and have learned so much from this MAL and Tatsiana’s amazing pattern @lillabjorncrochet. I hope you're having a lovely week 🤗🌼🌷🌸 by @treetopsdreaming

A bit of progress on my #faefleurblanket designed by tatsiana @lillabjorncrochet. This week I experimented by reversing the main and contrast yarn colours for 2 octagons. I'm so happy with the result 🤗🙌

The third photo shows a potential layout for a smaller 16 octagon blanket (I've now completed 8). The last photo shows crochet art created using the onelab photo editing app using a mirror effect (not ai).

I was awestruck the moment I first saw this beautiful pattern. The design is just so incredibly modern and special. And, the octagons are really fun to make 🤗🙌

My layout and colour palette have been inspired by taemombo's lovely aurora fleur. However, I chose a darker neutral (obsidian) and a brighter flow (mellowness). The last photo shows a potential layout for a smaller 16 octagon blanket.

As a slow crocheter, a blanket is always a big and daunting undertaking. So, I will work in bursts as time allows, take breaks to work on other wips and remind myself to enjoy the long journey 😂

I'm so excited to be a part of this MAL and to see everyone's wonderful creations!
