Would you visit Pakistan?

My first @trekquilo trip to Pakistan certainly didn’t disappoint.

Before the trip, several people in the group mentioned that family and friends were concerned about them travelling there. Some were worried about safety on a local level, while others were influenced by broader geopolitical perceptions of the country.

The reality on the ground was very different.

Of course, like any mountain destination, there are genuine risks to consider. Landslides, road closures and unpredictable weather are all part of travelling in a remote region of the world. But throughout the trip everything ran smoothly, and by the end many of the group were calling it one of the best adventures they had ever been on.

What stood out most wasn’t just the mountains, although the Karakoram certainly delivered. It was the hospitality. Everywhere we went we were welcomed with kindness, curiosity and generosity.

Unfortunately, mainstream coverage of Pakistan often focuses on the negatives and rarely shows this side of the country. As a result, many people never consider visiting, and it is local communities, guides, drivers, guesthouse owners and small businesses who ultimately miss out.

It’s time to do something different!

How about a multi day hike through the Mauritanian Desert, tracing ancient wells and learning desert survival and cooking skills?

This November I will be returning to the Sahara to lead a camel caravan through the Adrar Plateau.

Send me a message to be the first to receive information on the trip before I release it.

Trekquilo was built from years of solo travel and long hikes into the unknown.

Moving slowly, meeting locals, and spending real time beyond the usual routes shaped how these trips are put together.

That first hand experience is what sits at the heart of the hiking and adventure trips offered through Trekquilo

From now on this page is where all trip updates, information, and future plans will be shared.
