Berlin Life, 1920s
.
I’m excited to present my new diorama — and probably one of the most challenging MOCs I’ve ever built.
.
For the first time, I worked at approximately 1:10 scale, allowing me to explore a completely different level of detail. I also wanted to experiment with colour and composition, taking inspiration from German Expressionism. The distorted architecture, red and yellow windows, the street lamp casting its glow onto the pavement and gray skin color of the people are all meant to create an unsettling atmosphere.
.
The scene reflects the idea of the “traumatic experience of the metropolis” (traumatische Großstadterfahrung) — the feeling of being overwhelmed by the speed, crowds, noise and contradictions of modern urban life. In 1920s Berlin, this experience was intensified by the consequences of the First World War: disabled veterans, poverty and prostitution existed alongside nightlife, cultural freedom and rapid modernisation.
.
After the crisis and hyperinflation of 1923, Berlin entered the famous “Golden Twenties” — a period of economic recovery and extraordinary cultural creativity.

August 1943 🥀
On August 3, 1943, Operation Polkovodets Rumyantsev began. 83 years later, I built this LEGO diorama recreating a small fragment of the offensive that led to the Fourth Battle of Kharkiv, one of the decisive Soviet operations on the Eastern Front.

YPR-765
The YPR-765 is a Dutch infantry fighting vehicle developed in the 1970s and introduced into service in 1977. Based on the AIFV/M113 platform, it was designed to transport infantry and support them with its 25mm autocannon.
Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, YPR-765s supplied by the Netherlands have been actively used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in frontline operations and troop transport roles.
This build is an updated version of the vehicle design I previously used in my LEGO MOC “Battle for Pokrovsk”.

“The Belgorod–Kharkiv Offensive”
.
This LEGO diorama portrays intense urban combat during the fighting for Kharkiv in 1943. A German PaK 40 anti-tank position is defending a ruined city street while Soviet assault troops attack from multiple directions through shattered buildings, rubble, and barricades.
.
The scene also includes several fallen Soviet soldiers from the first wave of the assault — the so-called “Black Jackets” (“Чёрнопиджачники”). These were often poorly equipped emergency reinforcements, many of whom fought in civilian clothing or dark work jackets with minimal training and limited equipment during some of the most desperate battles on the Eastern Front.
.
The diorama highlights the brutal nature of street fighting — close-quarters combat, improvised defenses, and desperate attempts to hold strategic positions inside the devastated city.
.
The battle shown here is part of the Belgorod–Kharkiv Offensive Operation, launched in August 1943 after the Battle of Kursk. The operation included the Fourth Battle of Kharkiv, one of the largest and most destructive urban battles on the Eastern Front. Following the failure of the German summer offensive, Soviet forces pushed westward in a major counteroffensive aimed at retaking strategically important territory. The fighting for Kharkiv resulted in heavy losses on both sides and marked another major turning point of World War II.
This diorama is my entry for @only_amoc and lucas_bricks_101 MOC contests

We, @blaze_br1x and @trench__raider , are proud to present our collaboration, which we have been working on over the past couple of weeks.
.
Both builds are connected by a shared storyline — they portray the true horror of any war: the loss of a comrade. Through two different scenes, we aimed to show not heroism, but the human side of conflict — the pain, the shock, and the silence after the shots fade away.
.
Both MOCs are dedicated to the events of World War I.

Evacuation during the Battle for Pokrovsk (mid-2024 – present)
.
This diorama depicts two Ukrainian soldiers evacuating from the basement of an apartment block in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, using a Dutch YPR-765 armored vehicle. Above them, an enemy FPV drone is hovering — a constant threat on today’s battlefield.
.
The battle for Pokrovsk is the result of Russia’s prolonged war against Ukraine. After the city was briefly occupied and then liberated by Ukrainian forces in 2014, the front line remained to the east for years. However, Russia’s renewed large-scale offensives in 2024–2025 once again turned Pokrovsk into a key strategic and logistical target.
.
The war is still ongoing. Ukrainians continue to be killed every day — while much of the world lives in peace, marking holidays and celebrating Christmas.
.
This diorama was created for @brickscot2212 MOC contest.

The Battles of Narvik, 1940
.
On this diorama, you can see three German paratroopers attacking two soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force on the outskirts of Narvik, Norway, in the spring of 1940.
.
.
The Battle of Narvik was one of the most intense and strategically important engagements of the Norwegian campaign during World War II. In April–June 1940, Allied forces — including British, French, Polish, and Norwegian troops — fought fierce battles to recapture the northern port of Narvik from German forces. The Allies eventually succeeded in retaking the town, marking Germany’s first major land defeat of the war. However, the victory was short-lived, as the fall of France soon forced the Allies to withdraw from Norway.

"Evacuation"
On the diorama you can see French soldiers holding back the German advance in the surroundings of Charleroi in August 1914, as well as local civilians desperately trying to flee the city, which had been cut off by the Germans.
The Battle of Charleroi took place between 21 and 23 August 1914 during the early phase of the First World War, as part of the German offensive in Belgium and France. It was fought between the French Fifth Army, commanded by General Charles Lanrezac, and the German Second and Third Armies, under General Karl von Bülow and General Max von Hausen.
Charleroi, an important industrial and railway center in Belgium, became the focal point of the German attempt to break through the French lines along the Sambre River. The French Fifth Army had taken up defensive positions there, while the Germans sought to force a crossing and encircle Allied forces advancing into Belgium.
The fighting was extremely fierce, with heavy artillery bombardments and repeated infantry assaults. Despite moments of stubborn French resistance, particularly around the bridges of the Sambre, the superior numbers and coordination of the German forces gradually overwhelmed Lanrezac’s army. On 23 August 1914, after sustaining heavy losses and fearing encirclement, the French Fifth Army began a general retreat southward.
The Battle of Charleroi was a significant early German victory. It contributed directly to the Allied retreat that culminated in the Battle of the Frontiers and set the stage for the First Battle of the Marne in early September 1914, where the German advance was finally checked.

"Air battles over Switzerland 1940"
.
In June 1940, as tensions between Nazi Germany and Switzerland escalated, aerial battles broke out over the Jura, in the area between Pruntrut, the Lake of Biel and Basel. German aircraft deliberately invaded Swiss airspace and provoked Swiss pilots. The Swiss pilots took up the fight against the invaders and succeeded in shooting down several aircraft. But the Germans also attacked. Lieutenant Rudolf Rickenbacher was killed on June 4th. At 3:35 p.m. two Messerschmitt ME-109 planes soared into the blue summer sky at Olten airfield: Rickenbacher and another pilot. The two flew into the area near St.Ursanne, where the previous air battles had originated. Some time later, the pilots lost sight of each other. Around 4:00 p.m., Rickenbacher's plane crashed down in flames near Boécourt; he did not survive the accident. Later investigations into the wreckage showed that Rickenbacher himself had fired, but his ME-109 had also been hit. The German strikes had set Rickenbacher's plane on fire and caused it to crash. Rudolf Rickenbacher was the first member of the Swiss army to die in combat during World War II.
During World War II, the Swiss Air Force shot down approximately 11 to 13 German aircraft while losing around 3 of their own fighters in various incidents. After protests from Germany, the Swiss government ordered its air force to stop engaging in combat with German planes.
.
On the MOC, you can see a traditional Swiss rural chalet and two people in the yard watching a Swiss plane crash. Messerschmitt BF-109 was designed by @mechanixlego (I slightly modified the tail section).
.
This MOC is my entry for the third round of @the.brickcrew MOC contest.
