So when Vidy and Ben we’re visiting a few weeks ago, they found and signed their apartment in Santa Monica. Vidy comes up to me and throws her phone in my face to show me on the map how far apart we are and goes “I think that this is actually the furthest apart we can physically live” or something like that and I was like “???? Ok” but that doesn’t matter bc I’ll definitely be up her ass for the reminder of our lives.

We manifested tf out of our lives in college. I told her I was moving to DC when I was like, 19. She’s been talking about living in California since freshman year. I’m so excited for you and Ben!!! I can’t wait to visit in 2022 lmfao. I love you guys, drive safe.

Happy June 11th.

One year ago today, Nazharie and I packed up just about everything we owned into our tiny Toyota Corolla and moved from Mason, OH back to the DMV. We spent about 10 years of our childhood here and it’s honestly been a part of my life plan to move back since I was 15. I love DC.

Outside of my life long desire to return to this city, the main reason we moved back was to take custody of our three younger siblings on our mothers side.

My mother’s health has been steadily declining for years, but more recently it felt like she was at a point of no return. She’s been an alcoholic since I can remember and it’s something I had totally normalized and accepted for most of my life. It wasn’t until my last year of high school that it really dawned on me that the way my mother was living was not only taking away from her own life, but the lives of my 3 beautiful siblings.

All that said, after I graduated from UD and finished my internship, I really had nothing else keeping me in Ohio. We both moved without a solid plan or solid jobs, we just knew we had to figure something out.

This has been the longest year of my entire life. Anything that I thought was stressful, scary, or significant before, is so small now. This year has taught me so much. I have grown so much sometimes I don’t even recognize myself. In a good way.

I’m so incredibly proud of our new little family. We’ve all had to unlearn and adjust in so many ways and it was really hard. There are so many times when Nazharie and I looked at each other and really were like, what are we doing, this is crazy, why did we think we could pull this off? But we did. I don’t have a single regret.
