This piece is inspired by my great great grandmother who left India to go to Guyana in search of a better life. Her decision is why I exist today why I’m able to paint. And I’m forever grateful and proud to come from a lineage of risk takers and seekers. To leave everything you know and go across the world on a boat takes an immense amount of bravery. When my great grandmother got sick she left Guyana because she wanted to die in the place she was born. Till this day, nobody knows if she ever made the voyage back.
