Jeane Cohen and Trevor Warren in Je t’aime... quand même, opening tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, in Paris’s Upper Marais.

In Cohen’s Spades, 2026, curling forms and emphatic strokes of ochre, green, and blue hold the image in a state of becoming. Paint gathers along contours, giving each turn a physical intensity. Botanical and bodily associations emerge through the movement of the brush, allowing a single form to sustain several possible readings.

In Warren’s Another Light, A Different Sun, 2026, horizontal passages of violet, blue, and green dissolve into one another. The eye searches for an anchor within their shifting depths, encountering suggestions of landscape that remain just beyond recognition. Color establishes a sense of duration, as though the image were passing between perception and recollection.

Together, these works approach painting as a space in which recognition remains provisional. Cohen’s concentrated gestures and Warren’s dispersed atmosphere ask us to stay with an image as its associations unfold. Within Je t’aime... quand même, their pairing considers how a shared creative life can sustain distinct relationships to uncertainty, attention, and the imagined world.

Marking Gladwell Projects’ international debut, the exhibition brings together twelve artist partnerships, tracing the intimate exchanges through which creative lives unfold.
