It’s funny how life works out and how some paths are meant to end, so others can begin more intentionally.

2017 was the year I began makeup artistry and everything I did was the definition of winging it (quite literally). I was studying to become a primary teacher and makeup was very much just getting me through uni. My business grew successfully but in 2021, after lockdown, I decided not to return to makeup artistry as my heart just wasn’t in it anymore.

Early 2023 saw me pick up my brushes again but with a whole new outlook and approach. I wasn’t sure what direction it would take me in, but my mindset was different this time. In 2024, I opened my own studio and in 2025, took a career break and temporarily stepped out of the primary classroom. Little did I know I was creating space for a different type of classroom - one full of artists who all me to teach and guide them on something I love.

Everything you go through or do, whether it’s a setback or redirection, is part of your journey & leading you somewhere. When i stopped makeup in 2021 I never thought I’d have come back to it, let alone be hosting an event like this for fellow creatives. If anything, take this is as your sign to simply keep going 💫

Never ‘just’ a makeup artist.

I think sometimes even within our own industry, we can forget just how much of an impact our work can have on someone.

We spend years perfecting techniques, understanding products and going all in on our skills but there are moments that remind you it’s about so much more than the makeup itself.

Watching a bride become emotional when she sees herself knowing that you’ve played even a small part in making her feel that way, is something I don’t think any of us ever take for granted.

It’s such a personal thing to be trusted with how someone looks and feels on one of the most important days of their life. And while I absolutely love creating makeup, it’s moments like these that mean the world to me.

There’s something really special about seeing a bride in her dress with everything finally coming together. After all the time spent getting to know Rachel, talking through the little details and creating a look that feels right for her then you blink and suddenly there she is, ready to get married 🥹

A little insight into something I’m asked about almost every week.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a big bridal party - they bring so much energy and I love them. But a bigger morning needs a bigger team if we want to keep the experience calm, unrushed and enjoyable for everyone.

It’s never about how many faces I can fit in. If I had to, I could. But that defeats the purpose of what I value when I’m with you on your wedding morning. I don’t plan wedding mornings around how much I can fit in; instead, I plan them around how I want my bride to feel 💫
