Growing Food, Knowledge, and Community 🌿
—
It has been special to see KU’s leadership @prezrep18 and @team_repollet step into these growing spaces and participating alongside students.

This gardening initiative continues to show that growing food can be a hands-on learning experience for everyone.

Thank you @ku_cougarpantry and @groundworkelizabeth for creating spaces for education, sustainability, food access, and community. by @tribeandvibecollection

We joined Jasmin from @grownyc for an outdoor + indoor gardening workshop at @governorsisland
—
We started outdoors—tasting stevia straight from the herb garden, harvesting peppers from the grow rows, and learning about the different ways to grow food.

Then we brought the experience indoors, transplanting seedlings into our aeroponic Tower Garden and sharing how we transformed an unused kitchen at @nooarts_org into an indoor gardening hub.

The entire experience was a reminder that growing food can happen in so many different ways and spaces.

Much love to the team at @inthekitch26
We believe locally grown food can make its way directly into the kitchen, and we’re excited to explore what that can look like alongside Mr. Glaze @purposely__loving and @cookingwithcoreyfoundation

Sweet Peppers Grown on our Apartment Balcony. 🫑
—
We were curious to see what we can grow on our balcony. We get partial sun light, with mostly the evening sun shining on our balcony. We weren’t sure if that would be enough light to grow peppers but we gave it a try anyway. Aaaaaaaand look! Our Peppers did great!

Huge thanks to my gardening crew Bryson and Janelle! by @tribeandvibecollection

A historic kitchen transformed into a indoor gardening hub. Can it be done? Yes! We believe so. @governorsisland
—
Transformation:
We’ve started with bringing our herbal plants into the kitchen space. Oregano, thyme, and mint plants.

Then our air purifying plants and succulents. Spider plants, pathos, aloe Vera, string of turtles, and more..

Our goal is to grow food inside this kitchen space, so we brought in our sweet peppers, strawberries, and lettuce plants to grow.. let’s see how everything grows!

—
During our summer residency at Governors Island with @nooarts_org we’ve made friends with New York’s very own GrowNYC

Their community garden facilitates gardening workshops, cooking demos, and offers free produce to the public.

Easy to say that, these are our kind of people!
Growing their own food. Sharing with friends.
