	•	📜 Trapped in a bad contract
	•	🧑‍⚖️ No control of your own rights
	•	🚪 Hard to get out later

NIL danger zones every college athlete needs to know. 🚨

1️⃣ Your agent. Know exactly what you’re agreeing to and what you’re giving up.

2️⃣ Long-term NIL deals. Watch for language that could bind you for years. Have a lawyer review it first.

3️⃣ The transfer portal. Not everyone who enters lands somewhere new. Have a plan before you jump.

4️⃣ Your team’s dynamics. Pay attention to what coaches are saying, and not saying, about your future.

5️⃣ State rules. NIL rules change from state to state and school to school.

6️⃣ Reporting. Know how to report your deals and work with your compliance office.

Save this, and send it to an athlete who needs it. 🔁

Your child just got hurt on the field. Now what? 🏈

After the shock and the prayers, there’s a harder conversation: will they play again? Most will say yes. And that’s when a new question hits: what does this injury mean for their NIL deals?

Your NIL contracts should already spell out what happens if an athlete is injured. If they don’t, or if you’re not sure, you need legal counsel before you’re in the middle of it. Calling a lawyer after things go sideways is always harder.

Don’t fight this fight alone. Get counsel on the front end. 🤝

A “limited pass” for the NCAA? 🚨

The college sports bill would shield the NCAA from many antitrust lawsuits over athlete pay, eligibility and transfers.

Good for college sports, or bad for athletes? 👇

Congress is debating a cap on how much athletes can be paid. Two senators want a cap on coaches, too. 👇

As of Sept. 23, 2026, amendments filed to the Protect College Sports Act would:

📌 Cap college coach pay at $5 million a year for new contracts (Sens. Booker and Murphy)

📌 Put coaches under the same transfer-portal limits as athletes (Sen. Murphy)

For context, several head coaches earn about $13 million a year right now.

These are proposals, not law. Most of the 35+ amendments filed aren’t expected to pass.

Should coaches play by the same rules as athletes? Tell us below. 👇

Should college athletes be able to unionize like NFL and NBA players? One senator is pushing for it. 👇

Where things stand on the Protect College Sports Act, as of Sept. 22, 2026:

📌 The bill is “neutral” on whether athletes are employees

📌 Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) wants to replace that language so athletes could bargain collectively

📌 His other two amendments would put coaches under the same transfer-portal limits as athletes and protect athletes who report misconduct

Collective bargaining would let athletes negotiate pay and rules as a group, not just deal by deal.

Where do you stand? Tell us in the comments. 👇

Congress wants to cap what an agent can take from an athlete’s NIL deal at 5%. 👇

Under the Protect College Sports Act, as of Sept. 22, 2026:

✅ Agent fees on NIL deals would be capped at 5%

✅ Agents would have to register with their state

✅ A written contract would be required before an agent can represent an athlete

✅ The NCAA would keep a public registry of certified agents

A fee cap protects your cut, but it doesn’t tell you whether the deal itself is fair. The terms still matter.

Save this, and send it to an athlete or parent who’s about to sign.

This is general information, not legal advice.

Revenue sharing and NIL are not the same thing. 👇

Revenue sharing is money the school pays athletes directly. It comes from the athletic department.

NIL comes from third parties, such as sponsors and brands, who pay to use an athlete’s name, image and likeness.

Both are compensation while you’re playing in college, and both can be valuable. They’re still two separate streams, with separate contracts and separate rules.

Save this for later, and share it with an athlete or parent who needs to know the difference.

This is general information, not legal advice.
