Always remember the beautiful ripple impact that can ricochet from one seemingly small drop💧This mural spans the front entrance of @mercyfullproject and I want this work to be a reminder especially for the animal rescue staff, volunteers, fosters, and adopters that their drops of impact make ripples

Thank you MercyFull for supporting local artists and for all of the hard work you do I’m sure I barely witnessed the surface while working on this mural but it was truly amazing

My most recent mural “The Impact of One Drop” 💧represents the ripple effect that occurs from seemingly small actions. One may think no one notices or that they aren’t making that much of a difference when going about daily life. It is a reminder that one drop or action spreads its effects and does add up in making an incredible impact💧

This mural spans the front entrance of MercyFull Project, an animal rescue and adoption center in Downtown Tampa, FL @mercyfullproject

Spotlight: Tricia Sham (@triciasham)
Sham paints like water finding a wall. Figures pour, drip, bloom. Bees, leaves, a night flower with a face in it. Blue and green do most of the talking. Murals in Tampa, canvases in the studio — same language either way. Insects stand in for us. Vulnerability is the subject, not the apology.

Artist statement:
💧Tricia Sham is a Tampa-based muralist and studio artist. Her most recent motif is a watering can, symbolizing the power you can hold in your own growth.

Rooted in her abstract figurative studio practice, her murals draw symbolic parallels between plant behavior and human experiences.

Abstract Figurative: Sham plays with a tug of war between wanting to be understood and wanting to conceal in being too abstract💧

Live painting a work from start to finish always reminds me of how sometimes we get in our own way. Thinking it has to take forever to be the way we envision it. I was so happy to paint live at the MercyFull Gala and to be able to contribute to this amazing non profit🪴 @mercyfullproject @pcgc_clubhouse

Tricia Sham is a Tampa-based abstract figurative multidisciplinary artist, known for her fluid figurative mixed media studio paintings and murals. Her work draws symbolic parallels between plant behavior and human experiences, inviting introspection and empathy. A key part of Sham’s visual language is the recurring use of hybrid-like figures that merge human and organic motifs. Leaves, for example, frequently appear as helmets, hats, or shields; their delicate yet durable nature eludes to the alluring duality between sensitivity and strength. Plants’ life cycles often mirror our psychological processes and she uses plants as a way to emphasize the wondrous effects of taking care of yourself.

One of her favorite objects to use as a symbol for self nourishment is a watering can. This object for her holds tremendous power in that we can be the plant nourishing ourselves. The droplets of water that bounce from our leaves represent the effects of our care, eventually spreading onto others. Much of her mark-making style evolved from her early exploration of photography—especially her interest in capturing the movement of water. Through this abstract lens, she creates layered, ambiguous compositions that invite close observation. Her surreal environments reflect on vulnerability and resilience, often emphasizing the importance of both.

Sham’s studio work has been exhibited at The Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Red Dot Miami, Tropicana Field as apart of The Rays Major League Baseball Artist Series, and holds work within the permanent collection of the Haegeumgang Theme Museum in South Korea. She has completed murals for Dean Street Gallery with Tampa Downtown Partnership, MercyFull Animal Rescue, and Artmosphere Galleries. She has also engaged with the public through live painting events at the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts in Tampa and was awarded the 2024 Professional Development for Artists Grant by the Hillsborough Arts Council. Her most recent press is within the 2026 Tampa Magazine titled “The Butterfly Effect” in the Art, Philanthropy & Events Edition.

We are excited to feature @triciasham at the inaugural Art Fair Tampa! taken in United States by @triciasham

Our Next Featured Artist is @triciasham

Tricia Sham is an abstract figurative multidisciplinary artist known for her symbolic parallels between plant behavior and human experiences that invite introspection and empathy. She depicts themes of resilience, empathy, growth, and our shared relationship with the natural world through hybrid figures that merge plant and human characteristics. Rich in visual metaphor, her surreal environments reflect on the empowerment that comes from self-reliance. Water frequently appears in Sham’s work as a symbol of self nourishment and explores the mental and emotional growth that comes from looking after oneself.

I absolutely love her work and I am so happy to be sharing it!
