a return to Fire Island - 10 years later.

This is my first time back to the pines since we shot the reality show “Fire Island” in 2016. That was my first step into reality television and it started in front of the camera. Messy, lit & ready to rumble. I was like a tornado on that show but I moved the story. I also lived & worked in the pines all of the following summer of 2017, while it was airing.

Me & Bodhi felt like Mickey Mouse at Disneyland that summer, living in the pines as the show aired week to week. It was so exciting to me when people started coming up to us and would know Bodhi’s name and be so stoked to take a picture with him. So many memories flooded my mind the moment my Birkenstocks hit those old familiar boardwalks, now in the year 2026.

Little did I know then, a decade ago, that I’d one day stop partying as cameras filmed my wild antics, bust through that fourth wall & step behind the camera to start producing some of my favorite reality shows to watch. Like Real Housewives & Vanderpump Rules. Both of which I sat and watched episodes of that summer in this very house, as we shot the fire island show.

It’s funny because Summer House was shooting their first season the exact same summer. 2016. One of the producers of our show had been telling me about it. I remember thinking about how some straight group of “friends” were having the same experience we were, just in the Hampton’s somewhere. Crazy to think I would one day also produce several members of that cast on Winter House as well.

That era truly feels like lifetimes ago. It was wild to return to this enchanted island where I had some of the most pivotal, life changing experiences of my entire life. Some that were incredible and some that were truly terrifying. But they all changed me for the better.

So much can evolve in a decade. To walk through those pine forests again, this time holding hands with my loving fiancé, feeling at peace & whole within my mind, heart & soul, was profoundly healing.

The 2nd, 3rd & 4th pics are from the very first week of shooting Fire Island, in the same house I’m standing in front of in the current picture. 150 Ocean in the Fire Island Pines. by @trickmcdick
