Earth Wind & Fire • All ‘N All (1977)

Earth Wind & Fire’s All ‘N All is an example of a band at the top of their game, and an album that’s at the forefront of its genre.

First of all, it has to be mentioned, the cover art is fantastic. I know it’s got nothing to do with the album itself, but it does look incredibly brilliant. Definitely up there as one of the most iconic album covers of all time.

As for the songs themselves, all the instrumentals are great, “Serpentine Fire” is ridiculously funky, ballads such as “Love’s Holiday,” “Would You Mind” and I”ll Write A Song For You” are fantastic, and finally “Fantasy” is one of Earth, Wind & Fire’s best songs in my opinion.

This underscores the fact that EWF delivered some of the most intense and gutsy funk of the 1970s. 🎷🎺🔥

Simply Red • Picture Book (1985)

Monday evening spins with Simply Red’s
impressive debut from the mid 80’s. For me, after forty years, this album still packs a punch with brilliant melodies and the incredibly talented vocals from Mick Hucknall ❤️

Kurtis Blow • The Breaks (1980)

Classic old-school hip hop at its finest! Kurtis Blow, the first towering figure in hip-hop history, blended funky grooves with dynamic rap flows. His popularity and charisma proved that rap music was more than a fleeting novelty, and helped paved the way for Grandmaster Flash and Run D.M.C to even greater advances 🔥🎤 👊🏽

Wham!
Make It Big
1984

The sax solo alone on ‘Careless Whisper’ is just timeless and elegantly beautiful. Make It Big is pure 80’s pop gold, and it’s a first indication of George Michael’s strengths as a pop craftsman 🤍

Recognised for his otherworldly falsetto vocals, Barry Gibb is a pop icon best known as one-third of the trio of brothers who made up the chart-topping group The Bee Gees. As a songwriter, his long career is loaded with huge hits, brilliant collaborations and great songs.
