Op mijn oude bakkie (draait nog op win 95!) een mooi kerstgeschenk gebreid.
Als experiment overal camera’s opgehangen in de breiwerkplaats om het proces te filmen. De muts zelf is gemaakt in een zachte wolmix van merino en alpaca. Garens komen van een Italiaanse spinnerrij👌.

Trims bestellen is niet altijd realistisch ivm minimum aantallen die fabrikanten hanteren. Maar zelf maken in net zo leuk!

Dwarsdoorsnede van 1x1 rib beanie. Normaal kan je dit niet zien natuurlijk, maar dit mutsje moest ik halverwege het breien afbreken. Resultaat: de anatomie van een gebreide muts is mooi zichtbaar 😻.

Draadjes instoppen van de 3.5 gauge shawls voor #HTLGS mini accessoire collectie. Het instoppen blijft altijd een handmatig en bewerkelijk onderdeel van het process. Voor deze shawls heb ik dik lontgaren gebruikt dus hier gaat het instoppen redelijk vlot.

Time to make some trims (meaning labels & hangtags) for my knitwear items. By the end of September the first knitted accessories produced on my very own knitting machine will hit the store. Tight deadline, I know..

The unboxing part shows the tools needed for this process. Since the paper sheets arrive in 70x100cm, I need a special sized cutting mat and longer than usual cutting guide.
This amazing paper comes from a European mill that is using 100% post-consumer reclaimed paper waste (with FSC recycled credit for provenance). The hangtags attached to the knitted accessories will be made with this paper. A sleek embossing will help avoid using ink and other dye stuff for an item with a limited life span anyway (the hangtag). The braided rope is made from European recycled PET bottles and energy positive produced by a Dutch company in The Netherlands. Again, with proof of its provenance and certified recycled materials (GRS). Very cool to find this material source so close to home.

I found this Singer Nemo II some time ago while on a treasure hunt at the attic of my family home. The set was still complete with an original purchase receipt and audio tutorial cassettes 😀. It was not running anymore due to neglect, but after some cleaning and degreasing the knitting needles and reinstalling them with fresh oil its running so smooth again!
