Porsche heaven exists, and it’s in Montclair, California! 🏁

I got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of @nine11design with owner Hratch Odabashian, and I was blown away by what this shop is capable of.

From full ground-up restorations and custom hot rods to race car preparation, engine builds, bodywork, and paint, these guys do just about EVERYTHING in-house.

We got to see some incredible Porsches, learn how the sausage is made, and meet the people behind these amazing builds.

🎥 The full shop tour is LIVE on my YouTube channel! Link in bio.

And stay tuned, because in our next episode we’re taking a deep dive into 911 Design’s incredible Triebwerk 964 restomod!

Huge thanks to Hratch and the entire @nine11design team for opening their doors to us!

What’s your dream Porsche build? A restoration, hot rod, race car, or restomod? 👇

These are, without question, the fastest air-cooled Porsche 911s I’ve ever driven.

I recently had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of two extraordinary Porsche 964 restomods built by @dastriebwerk and @triebwerk.usa.

One features a 3.8L engine producing approximately 350 horsepower. The other? A 4.3L making around 450 horsepower. Both are absolutely sensational.

What makes these cars so special isn’t just the performance. It’s the attention to detail, stunning interiors, incredible engineering, and commitment to steel bodywork that pays homage to the early long-hood 911s I love so much.

As someone who owns a 1970 911E hot rod, I have a tremendous appreciation for what Triebwerk has accomplished here.

I sat down with Ralf, one of the owners, for an in-depth technical walkthrough before driving both cars through the Malibu canyons.

The full review is now live on my YouTube channel! We get into the engineering, craftsmanship, and what these incredible machines are actually like to drive.

Huge thanks to @dastriebwerk, @triebwerk.usa, and @nine11design for making this happen!

The detour

The plan was simple. Cars&Coffee in Malibu, straight up Highway 1.

Then we saw the beach empty, the sand still cool, the light just coming over the hills. So the plan changed.

Ten minutes on the sand with two Triebwerk 911s, then back on PCH. We still made it to coffee.

Sometimes the best part of the drive is the stop you didn't plan.

First light over the hills, spilling onto the sand and the Pacific.

Chalk grey and Signal yellow.
Same timeless shape, two very different moods. The grey picks up the soft colors of the morning sky. The yellow simply glows.

Round headlights, wide rear hips, a roofline that hasn't needed changing in 60 years. The 911 never goes out of style, especially on the California coast.

*Where the road meets the Pacific*

There's a stretch of California where the land simply runs out. The mountains drop into the sea, Highway 1 traces the edge, and the Pacific stretches all the way to the horizon. It's one of the great driving roads on earth, and few cars have ever felt more at home on it than an air-cooled 911.

This morning we took both Triebwerk Porsches up the coast to Canyon Cars & Coffee in Malibu. On the way we stopped where the pavement gives way to sand, rolled both cars out onto the beach, and watched the first light come up over the water.

A slate-grey coupe on Fuchs wheels and a yellow one wearing its German plates, side by side with the waves behind them. Two cars built in @dasTriebwerk in Germany with roots in Stuttgart, finally meeting the ocean they were always meant to see.

That's what these cars are about. They aren't trailer queens or museum pieces. They're built to be driven up the coast at sunrise, to hear that flat-six echo off the cliffs along PCH, and to arrive with sand still on the tires.

German engineering. California light. The Pacific Ocean. It doesn't get much better.

🏆 BEST CLASSIC CAR REBUILD 🏆

Vegas, you showed up and showed out! Huge thanks to everyone at the Las Vegas Auto Fest for the incredible energy this weekend — and to the judges for handing us the trophy for Best Classic Car Rebuild. 🥇

Massive shoutout to the beautiful Las Vegas showgirls who brought the glamour to our booth and helped make this the show it was. ✨

But the real thank you goes to all of YOU — the crowd who came out, voted, and lost your minds the first time you saw our Triebwerk cars live in Vegas. Your reactions said it all. This one’s for you. 🙏🇩🇪🇺🇸

We had the incredible opportunity to take our F4.3 “Orangina” out onto the Las Vegas Strip at night… and it felt unreal.
Cruising under the neon glow, watching the lights bounce off that signature orange paint as the city pulsed around us. The energy of the Strip, the reflections on the asphalt, the pure sound of the car cutting through the night — everything just hit different. Moments like this remind you why these cars exist… not just to be parked and admired, but to be driven somewhere that matches their energy.
Grateful for the chance to roll through one of the most iconic stretches of road in the world with Orangina. Vegas never sleeps, and neither did we.
What do you think — does the color pop even more under the Strip lights?

Our 2 outstanding 911s. 3.8 &4.3L of Triebwerk power under the hoods. One epic haul from our HQ at 911 Design in Los Angeles straight to the desert.
We couldn't roll into town without a stop at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway first — because these engines don't know how to sit still.
Landed at Red Rock Country Club for the @Vegasautofest for and Load in, and the scenery does not disappoint. Two air-cooled icons, one incredible backdrop.
This is what happens when German engineering meets the open road. 🇩🇪🇺🇸
