🎃 THE COACH’S WORST NIGHTMARE 🎃

After enough years on the mats and in the cage, you think you’ve seen it all.

Blood.
Sweat.
Broken bones.

I’ve even had blood in my mouth.

Kids. Adults. Beginners. Upper belts…

Nothing surprises you anymore.

Until one day…

You’re teaching.

You reach out to correct a technique…

And you see it.

POOP. 💩

On their hands.

And suddenly, every nightmare you’ve ever had feels like a pleasant dream.

Because there are some things even a BJJ coach was never prepared to face.

But this was only the beginning…

The mats have more secrets.
More horrors waiting in the shadows.
And some nightmares are better left unseen.

So when the lights go out and the gym falls silent…

It was supposed to be just another roll…

But he knew the moment he stepped onto the mat.

He could feel it.

But he was powerless to stop it.

The pressure.
The panic.
The overwhelming urge to flail in every direction.

Because his greatest fear isn’t getting submitted.

It’s making an upper belt mad. 👹

Every wild scramble.
Every accidental elbow.
Every completely unplanned movement.
Every bit of loose hair in their mouths.

He could see it in their eyes.

He had awakened something.

And now he can only hope to survive the round.

A teammate pooped his pants.
Brown stain. White gi. Absolute horror.

He tried to go to North-South.

Brent tapped. Immediately.
No hesitation. No shame. Just survival instincts.

A true horror movie come to life, and one we sincerely hope never gets a sequel.

Some things can be washed away.

But some nightmares…

There are some nightmares you wake from.

And then there are the ones that follow you into the gym. ☠️

Gabriel knows this all too well.

It begins in the dead of night.

A sudden awakening.
A cold sweat.
The unmistakable feeling that something or someone is watching.

Then, slowly, your eyes adjust to the darkness…

And there he is.

Jesse.

On top.

Waiting.

You try to move.
You try to scream “tap” but it gets stuck in your throat.

Jesse is no ordinary training partner.

He is the pressure demon.

And this is only the first nightmare.

There are more coming.

Much more.

And in many of them, Jesse is the boogyman.

Strength and Conditioning Sunday! This week is mount, but we wanted to focus on overall balance and stability since that plays such a big part in every aspect of BJJ.

Make sure you’re focusing on your training even once you leave the mats, because being the best BJJ athlete you can be requires more than just showing up for class.

We know life gets crazy and focusing on yourself can be hard, but we also believe in you, just like we believe that @arly.lago will one day hate single leg exercises a little bit less. 🫶💪

Your partner looks you dead in the eyes and says…

“Let’s go light.”

You tell them it’s no problem. You trust them, but maybe that’s a mistake.

Then they proceed to roll the like a championship belt or their immortal soul is on the line. 👻

Now that’s a frustrating horror story anyone who has ever trained can relate to. Gives us goosebumps just digging through those dark memories. 💀
