Four years ago, there was never a doubt in my mind that I would end up exactly where I am today. The journey to get here though, was as unclear as ever. One of three Black kids at my freshman orientation, I cried on the diag scared of what my life at Michigan would look like. Then I found a little sumn to do my Thursday evenings 😉. Black Umich showed me that if I slipped through the cracks, I’d have hundreds of loving hands to help me back to my feet.

Not only did I graduate a semester early with my BS in Earth and Environmental Sciences, I graduated as a James B. Angell Scholar three years in a row AND having University Honors SIX out of my seven semesters. Despite the lack of representation in my field, I am oh so confident and proud to say THIS is what a scientist looks like!
