What is it that they hope to find?
Why do they look into every face,
every corner, every passing moment,
as though someone is about to arrive?

I have looked for You in so many places,
in the crowds, in the silence,
in the faces of strangers,
in the spaces between my thoughts.
And still, these eyes are not tired.

It started with a simple yes.
A friend reached out and asked if I could photograph his sister, who was expecting her first child. I said yes without really knowing where it would lead. What I remember most from that first shoot isn’t the photographs themselves. It’s the feeling of being around two people preparing to become parents. The excitement, the uncertainty, the little moments between them and the strange beauty of knowing that their lives were about to change in a way I could not fully imagine. Slowly, I found myself photographing more of these stories and with it I realised I wasn’t particularly interested in photographing pregnancy as a subject. I was interested in photographing people going through something deeply personal together. The anticipation , the affection , the nervousness and the excitement. The quiet moments that happen when nobody is trying to perform for the camera. That is what keeps me drawn to these sessions. Not necessarily the genre. Not the label. Just people, in a very particular moment in their lives, letting me witness a little bit of it.

Thank you to the parents-to-be (then) to let me in on their intimate journey of creation ♥️

If you’re planning on adding to the human population as well , do think of me. Not before. Not whilst. But hopefully after , so I can print and digitise some memories for you.

The stare down
Western Ghats , India 2026

The subject , a green vine snake , remained in its natural state, constantly and slowly moving through its surroundings, never quite taking its eyes off the aliens in its territory , us. To me there was something amusing about the quiet stare down that followed. While it went about its business offering a different photograph with every turn , I kept trying to understand the animal through the viewfinder looking for another angle, another gesture, another way of seeing. It became an exercise of watching , waiting and composing. The reptile kept moving through its world and I kept trying to make sense of it from mine.

Hump nosed viper
Goa , 2026

This snake gets its name from having a long nose like my father or Steve Carell or Pinocchio. The venomous reptile sits hiding in plain sight waiting for its prey or something worthy of its reaction to appear. A bit of a loner by nature , it is usually calm yet assertive. This one sure tried to give us a literal jump scare to convince us to leave it alone. Nonetheless , we did our job , documented the experience and left it in its natural state of solitude.

Malabar pit viper
Chorla ghat , Karnataka 2026

The brown morph’s olive and yellow markings almost disappear into the wet bark and foliage like the environment was designed after the snake. The conditions were testing. Heavy rain , muddy ground , wet socks and pushing the camera’s weather sealing capabilities beyond comfortable waters. The snake looked at me like it didn’t wish to be a part of whatever i was there to do either and that I was not incharge of the interaction. Somewhere in the middle of all of that , fear found me again. I could feel my insides getting anxious , my breath trying to run away from its rhythm and discomfort seeping in. In one instant I was very aware of where I was and what I was standing next to and my instinct to step back was becoming stronger. Usually I expect this state of mind to hit me in a studio under artificial lights when I’m trying to make something work , rarely out in the open world in the middle of a forest staring at a viper. It’s fun to notice the workings of my nervous system interloping with my passion and career.

The Womb

Creation is perhaps the closest our species comes to the divine. There’s a very human paradox here. We spend so much time speaking of creation as something divine, almost impossible for us to comprehend and yet humans are capable of doing something remarkably close to it. Across cultures and religions, the act of creation belongs to the realm of the sacred. The most profound version of this in our lives happens quietly inside the human body. The womb becomes a space between the known and the unknown. A place where a human being is formed, unseen and untouched by the outside world. This mini series looks at pregnancy not simply as the beginning of a child but as an act of creation shared between two human beings showing us that the will to create is not exclusive to Gods, artists or nature.
It exists within us all.
