🌵THE DESERT OF INSECURITY
God wants to change you in the land of self-sabatoge.
🎥 Catch the replay on YouTube!

People end up in desert trials because of 3 things:
1. Their Own Decisions (Moses, Saul)
2. Other’s Decisions (Hagar, David, Elijah)
3. God’s Decision (Job, Israelites, John the Baptist Jesus)

The principle for surviving in the wilderness is
the same principle for succeeding in the garden:
Depend on what God provides each day.

Complaining Leads to Rebellion Against
God’s Provision
God’s People
Gods Presence
God’s Promise

1. Insecurity makes God’s provision feel inadequate.

2. Insecurity makes obedience feel unattainable.

The Contradiction of Spiritual Insecurity
“I’m going to Heaven.” But: “I don’t think I can live holy.”
“I’m saved.” But: “I don’t think I can forgive.”
“Jesus is Lord.” But: “I don’t think I can surrender.”
“God has called me.” But: “I don’t think I can obey.”

3. Insecurity reaches for the safer compromise.

Familiar misery can feel safer than unfamiliar freedom.

“Give me the identity I already know rather
than the identity I have to trust God to become.”

4. Insecurity stops feeling right when you feel the glory of God.

Reflection Questions

Am I Interpreting my needs and obstacles through
God’s provision, presence and promise?

In what areas do I have contradicting insecurities
between recognizing God’s ways and following them?

What provisions in my life do I tend to feel are inadequate?

Am I allowing my current circumstances to create more insecurity
or am I using them to step further into a flourishing life of belonging? taken in Trinity Baltimore by @trinitybaltimore

🥊 David and Shirrie Dominguez began a work in their home almost 10 years ago and have seen it grow into a reviving work across the darkest side of Philly. They are true dreamers breaking into a place of nightmares with the Kingdom of God!

🗺️ Do you know what God is doing along the East Coast?
Let God stir your heart this weekend as we welcome our neighbors to the North!

Meet Me in The Desert 🌵 RECAP!

God met Hagar’s rejection and gave her belonging. What she did next was remarkable! When you encounter the God who see you, your motivations change.

Deserts are places where everything bites, pokes or stings.
Scorching sun, harsh winds, barren surfaces.
YET the DESERT is still GOD’S TERRAIN.

The Sands of Disappointment brings us to Dependence.
The Burning Sun of Trial draws us to the water of the Spirit.
The PATH is a PROCESS not a PUNISHMENT.

Genesis 3 + Genesis 16 Parallel
Eve said - Sarai said
Adam listened - Abram agreed
Eve took some fruit - Sarai toook Hagar
And gave to her husband - And gave to her husband

Until we find acceptance in Christ, rejections becomes our directions.

4 Promises
The Lord has heard your affliction. v11
You shall conceive and bear a son. v11
He shall live at odds with his kin. v12
I will greatly multiply your offspring. v10

Hagar doesnt get an explanation, justification or an answer.
She gets an encounter.

The God Who Sees Me
God’s eyes were not opened, Hagar’s eyes were.
