Breaking Battle

20th Annual Trinity International Hip Hop Festival

Temple of Hip Hop

Trinity College

So many takeaways from this amazing weekend. The future of Hip Hop rests squarely in the hands of the world and its force as a cultural revolutionary practice will have an incalculable effect.

One thing that is clear, dance and music will bring the next world generation closer ignoring the artificial boundaries of national borders.

One love, one heart. taken in Trinity College by @trinityhiphop

Whenever you see @daoddcouple in your area, rest assured you’ll experience true Hip-Hop integrity, as our core DJ sound values are more about staying true than chasing mainstream fame. If we were in it for clicks, we’d be playing that corny 💩.

We want to thank @trinityhiphop for inviting us to their 20th annual International Hip-Hop Festival—it was a dope experience! taken in LiteBox Studios by @trinityhiphop

Check out LIVING DECLARATIONS at @parkvillemarket 2nd floor and @trinitycollege Mather Hall, lower level, Cave area. On view through April 19!

Marking the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the Trinity College Chapter of the Temple of Hip Hop, in collaboration with Sageseeker Productions, presents Living Declarations. Through photographic collages, this exhibition traces nearly twenty years of global hip hop culture in Hartford through the annual Trinity International Hip Hop Festival.

Support for Living Declarations is provided by @cthumanities as part of its America 250 | CT program.

Guided by the Temple of Hip Hop’s 2001 Declaration of Peace, this exhibition invites viewers to imagine freedom not as a completed chapter of history, but as something lived and continually redefined. Pulled from the festival’s digital collection of photographs taken by both professionals and nonprofessionals, the collages celebrate the history of the festival in the City of Hartford by exploring themes such as Youth and Legacy, Education and Knowledge Sharing, Women’s Representation, Leadership and Organizing, and the enduring spirit of Revolution to reveal how global hip hop in Hartford continues to carry forward living declarations of creativity, resistance, and collective possibility.

The Festival’s photograph archive was curated by Seth Markle. Collages were created by Jasmin Agosto.

Photographs by the following people have been included: Jasmin Agosto, DJ Boo, Farbeon, Glayor, Ben Herson, Keza, Zoraida Lopez, Megalo Mandee, Seth Markle, and Magee McIlvaine. taken in Parkville Market by @trinityhiphop

8 times designing the posters for Trinity International Hip Hop Festival♾️ First time was 2010!!🔊🔥

Also blessed to have performed 3 times as a DJ, and once with my crew Zero Plastica — sharing stages and opening for legends like DJ Kool Herc and KRS-One🎤🎧

But the real gift? Artists from all over the globe who became brothers and sisters I’m still in touch with today!!

🙏🏻Thankful to Trinity College, to Nomadic Wax for bringing me there first, and to Prof. Seth Merkle for having me design the posters again this year.

Long Live Hip Hop Culture ☮️
