🌈 LOVE is LOUDER 🌈What our hearts know —and our community proves every day— is that Pride is louder, Joy is louder, and LOVE is louder 🔊💕🌈Thank you for standing with us, believing in our young people, and helping build a future filled with safety, belonging, and possibility ❤️At Trinity Place, healing happens in both ordinary and extraordinary moments. We cook together. We laugh together. We celebrate new jobs, college acceptances, and milestones both big and small. We offer workshops, case management, and compassionate support, but most importantly, our residents are held, seen, valued, and celebrated. This is the community we build together.Your gift makes this all possible. Your gift becomes the staff member offering encouragement and resume development, the meal shared around the table, and the safe place to come home to at the end of the day. It is a powerful reminder to our young people that they matter, that they belong, and that there are people rooting for them. Today we honor and celebrate Juneteenth - Freedom Day. 2.5 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, 250,000 people were still enslaved in Texas. On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to bring word that the 250,000 people still enslaved in Texas were freed. June 19th - Juneteenth - marks the end of chattel slavery in the U.S.Juneteenth has been celebrated annually in Texas since 1866. In 1979, Texas was the first state to make Juneteenth an official holiday. It wasn’t until June 2021 that it was established as a federal holiday. This country’s legacy of violence against Black people did not end on June 19, 1865. Freedom for many enslaved people still did not come for months after this date and Black people continue to face white supremacist violence to this day. Today, we honor freedom.Every day, we continue to fight for a more liberated world. There’s so much more to say about the history of Juneteenth and the ongoing violence Black people face in the United States. If you’re a white person reading this, we encourage you to take time today to educate yourself further and decide how you will dedicate yourself to the struggle for liberation if you have not already. by @trinitys_place
