Imitation Scenes is a work for percussion trio that explores imitation between performers’ voices and percussion instruments. Conceived as a study of mimesis, the piece treats sound as a shared physical gesture: objects mimic voices, voices echo instruments, and performers mirror or exaggerate one another’s actions. In this way, imitation functions not only as a device shaping the musical structure, but also as a reflection of human behaviour, lending the work a subtle theatrical dimension.

Retour sur notre concert d’hier au Festival @musiqueadeauville.

Au programme : la Sonate pour deux pianos et percussions de Béla Bartók, Spring’s Dance de @escaich.thierry et Quartet de Steve Reich, aux côtés de @theofouchenneret et @jonasvitaud.

Un grand merci au Festival pour l’invitation et l’accueil chaleureux, à Thierry pour sa présence et ses précieux conseils, à Théo et Jonas pour le plaisir de partager cette soirée, et au public pour son écoute attentive !

Dernière semaine de résidence avec @djedjotronic à la @fondationfiminco avant l’enregistrement de cet été ! Ensuite ?

Ensuite, on vous donne rendez-vous le 06 novembre au festival @weareisulia pour la création de ce set, on vous promet que ça va danser fort fort fort !

🇬🇧 Meet the cast !

" I am very pleased that the Trio Xenakis invited me to participate in this second edition of the Composition Academy, which in 2027 will focus on composing a piece for two pianos and two percussionists.

This is a large-scale competition project, not only because of the presence of all the instruments in the magical setting of the Fondation Singer Polignac, but also because of all the work that can be done on-site, including meetings, master classes, and concerts.

It is clear that there is a real need for a competition of this kind. These young composers come from all over the world, and I am infinitely flattered to have the chance to lead a master class with the lucky winners of this competition. I am deeply grateful to the Trio Xenakis for bringing me along on this magnificent adventure. "

"I am delighted to be joining the Xenakis Trio Academy at the Singer-Polignac Foundation, which represents a rare space for knowledge-sharing, experimentation and dialogue.

The meeting of generations lies at the heart of this approach: it is not limited to a top-down transfer of knowledge, but opens up a genuine space for exchange, where perspectives meet and shift, and where everyone – mentor and participant alike – is encouraged to question their own practices. It is through this circulation of ideas that a particularly fruitful creative dynamic emerges.

It is with great enthusiasm that I look forward to supporting young composers in these explorations – within the exceptional setting of the Singer-Polignac Foundation, alongside Graciane Finzi – by encouraging them to assert their individuality, to fully embrace the constraints of the ensemble as a catalyst for creativity, and to ground their work in a musical approach that is both rigorous and open-minded."

🇬🇧 The Xenakis Trio is launching its second edition!

Three winners, selected on the basis of their applications, will be commissioned to write a piece for two pianos and two percussionists, to be performed alongside pianists Théo Fouchenneret, Jonas Vitaud and Gabriel Durliat at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.

The three works will then be premiered in April 2027 during the academy’s closing concert.

The winners will also have the opportunity to receive guidance from Graciane Finzi and Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber during masterclasses at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.

Launch of the second edition: applications are now open for the shortlisting stage, which closes on 1 June 2026.
