The recap videos are beautiful, but they don’t tell the whole story. What you don’t see are the phone calls, the hard conversations, the moments of uncertainty, or the people behind the scenes who refused to let this moment slip away. Gio Day almost didn’t happen. That’s why this means so much to me. This week reminded me that no matter how hard you work, you need people who believe in you, advocate for you when you’re not in the room. To my team, my friends, and everyone who fought for this day thank you. I wouldn’t be here without you.

For my first time curating a free community event, the turnout exceeded anything I imagined. I saw many familiar faces who have been with me since day one of my journey, alongside new faces becoming new supporters. Seeing everyone come together to celebrate independent artists, and support one another reminded me exactly why I even do this.

While this proclamation has my name on it, I never wanted it to be just about me. I want it to represent every independent artist grindin from the ground up, without getting the recognition they deserve. My hope is that July 23 becomes more than just Gio Day, it becomes a day to celebrate independent artists everywhere. Stream their music, buy their merch, share their work, or show up to their events. You never know how one person believing in an artist can change everything. It’s only up from here!
