🛑 Stop. Put the paperback down.

I don’t say this often, but Project Hail Mary is a book you should not read on paper. You have to hear it.

Why? Two reasons:
1️⃣ Rocky: I can’t spoil it, but there is a sound element to this character that text on a page just can’t capture.
2️⃣ The Science: The audio format helped me breeze through the technical parts that might have bogged me down in print.

As part of my mission to read 100+ books this year, finding the right format is the only way I get through them. For this one? Audio is the MVP. 🏆

If you’ve been hesitant to try Sci-Fi, let this be your entry point. Trust the Compass on this one!

💬 Have you listened to this one yet? Do you agree about the audio?

Let’s talk strategy. 🧭

As a mom with a full-time job who loves to read, I don’t have time for a ‘bad read’—and sometimes, a book is only ‘bad’ because of how you’re reading it.

That’s why book recommendations on @TripleThreatRead use the Compass Rating System. I’m not just telling you if the book is good; I’m telling you the most efficient, immersive way to experience it.

🧭 CRUCIAL: You’re missing out if you don’t use this format.
➡️ STEADY: A safe, solid bet for your TBR.
⚠️ WARNING: Something about this format didn’t click. Save your credits/shelf space for something else.

Combined with my 3-Word Verdict and a traditional star rating, you’ll know exactly what to read and how to read it in under 30 seconds.

Which format do you usually default to? Comment with 🎧, 📱, or 📖 and your favorite book in each format!

For years, reading was an ‘on-and-off’ hobby. I’d read maybe one book a year, convinced I just didn’t have the time. Then, this summer, something clicked. I fell head-over-heels in love with Contemporary Lit and a good twisty Thriller, and now I can’t stop! 📚😅

I quickly realized I needed a system to keep up with my TBR—because I’m a mom with a full-time job, and my free time is measured in minutes! That’s how I became the Triple Threat Reader!

My Reading Vibe:
• Triple Threat Format: I read every book I can in three formats (Audio 🎧, Digital 📱, and Paper 📖). That’s how I read on my commute, in my office, and on my couch!
• 3-Word Verdicts: Every review gets three concise words to capture the essence of the book. No spoilers, just impact.
• Format Ratings: I rate how useful and immersive each format was for that specific book using my Compass Rating System (🧭, ➡️, ⚠️).

This page is purely for fun, a place to share my new passion and help you find books you can’t put down. Ready to find your next read? Tell me: What book got you hooked on reading? 👇

I was absolutely hooked on Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke from the first page and managed to fly through it in a single day!

The story follows Natalie, a high-achieving lifestyle influencer whose curated life starts to crack when she is thrust into a mind-bending time-travel scenario. It is a brilliant and biting exploration of modern themes.

I loved to hate Natalie. She is the embodiment of the pressure to be perfect. While I didn’t find her relatable, I understood the need to constantly strive for perfection. You hate her, but you also don’t want to see her suffer public humiliation either!

The writing is succinct and direct, perfectly mirroring Natalie’s inner monologue. While the ending felt a little rushed for me and I had some questions about the motivations of certain characters, the rest of the book was phenomenal! Check out my full review on @goodreads, @thestorygraph or @netgalley!

Since this was an ARC, I only had access to the digital copy, so I can’t do a compass post for this one. However, I am definitely planning on listening to the audio when it officially drops! I think the succinct writing and Natalie’s “voice” will translate perfectly to that format!

Mark your calendars: Yesteryear will be available for purchase on April 7, 2026! 🗓️

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars ⭐

Huge thank you to @aaknopf @pantheonbooks @ireadvintage and @netgalley for the early copy!

It’s #ThreeBookThursday! 📈✨ Welcome to Part II of my non-WWII historical fiction list!

Since World War II dominates so much of the historical fiction genre, I wanted to shine a light on books that explore completely different eras and cultures.

🌏 PACHINKO by Min Jin Lee (my latest 5 star read. Obsessed with these characters and I learned so much!)
👯‍♀️ THE VANISHING HALF by Brit Bennett

✨Book Review & Compass Rating! ✨ THEO OF GOLDEN by Allen Levi

I rated this one 4 stars! It was a really sweet, beautiful book that felt exactly like coming home to family. I loved getting to know all these different characters and learning how their lives intertwined.

The 3-word Verdict:
Gentle. Heartbreaking. Sweet.

Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

The Synopsis: A quiet, mysterious older man named Theo arrives in the small Southern town of Golden. When he discovers ninety two pencil portraits of local residents hanging in a coffee shop, he embarks on a mission to purchase them and quietly return them to their rightful owners. With every portrait he gifts, a new story is told, friendships are formed, and a beautiful, interconnected community is built.

The Format Breakdown:
📖 Paper: ➡️ STEADY. A solid way to take your time with a slow, contemplative, character driven story.
📱 Digital: ➡️ STEADY. A great option if you want to cozy up and easily read this heartwarming tale.
🎧 Audio: 🧭 CRUCIAL. The narrator is absolutely fantastic. His soft, calm voice perfectly fits the vibe of the story and Theo’s gentle temperament. Plus, he handles all the different accents so well!

The Takeaway:
I oscillated between ratings for this one because the pacing is such a journey. It went from feeling a bit boring and slow, to heartbreaking, to sweet, to sad, and ultimately, to deeply moving. This is a story that reminds you of the profound impact of simple, quiet kindness. It’s a story about the ways our lives connect with strangers, that feels like a warm hug. It is absolutely worth your time, especially on audio!

✨Book Review & Compass Rating! ✨ BUCKEYE by Patrick Ryan

This is my first 5 star rating of 2026! I absolutely loved this unique period in history and how the different viewpoints and lives intertwined. It perfectly blends a fascinating spiritual aspect with sweet and tragic moments, all set against the historical perspective of difficult times in our country.

The 3-word Verdict:
Sweeping. Tragic. Beautiful.

Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

The Synopsis:
A beautifully written, multigenerational family saga set in the small town of Bonhomie, Ohio, spanning from the end of World War II through the Vietnam War. It follows the intimately connected lives of two couples: Cal and Becky, and Margaret and Felix. When a stolen moment of passion links their families on VE Day, a secret is born that ripples through the decades. The story weaves together the everyday realities of small town life with profound themes, including Becky’s unique spiritual gift of communicating with the dead, as both families navigate love, loss, and the heavy impact of war.

The Format Breakdown:
📖 Paper: ➡️ STEADY. A classic, grounding way to settle into a decades spanning family saga.
📱 Digital: ➡️ STEADY. Perfect for easily reading a long, immersive story on the go.
🎧 Audio: ➡️ STEADY. A fantastic narrator does a wonderful job bringing the emotional weight and the different viewpoints to life.

The Takeaway:
This is a magnificent epic that captures the beautiful, messy, and tragic realities of life. It offers a profound look at how our choices ripple through generations and how ordinary people survive extraordinary periods of history. While I loved this beautiful story, my only comment is that I wish the female characters were more developed. I really wanted to learn more about Margaret and Becky! Even so, if you enjoy sweeping stories of deeply connected lives, this is an absolute must read. Because the story is so beautifully told, you are guaranteed to enjoy it in whatever format you choose!

Date night prep & parallel reading! 🤎 #DOBoftheday

My husband and I are heading out for a little date night tonight. I wanted to put together an outfit that felt elevated but comfortable for dinner. It is time for a DOB+C (Drink, Outfit, Book + Candle) check-in before we head out the door!

✨ The Drink: @theoriginaldonutshop Vanilla Cream Puff Coffee with @starbucks sugar-free vanilla syrup. Served in my absolute favorite @bucees mug to keep my energy up.
✨ The Fit: Brown Sweater, Vintage Scarf, Corduroy Skirt, Navy Tights & Navy Boots. Feeling very pulled together with this color combo.
✨ The Read: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I am completely swept up in this beautiful story right now.
✨ The Candle: “Harbor Island” by @nivenmorgan. Setting a relaxing mood for when we get back home.

Honestly the best part of date night is coming home, taking off the boots, and reading next to each other in bed. Parallel reading is my absolute favorite kind of quality time.

Want to shop this lineup? You can head to the link in my bio to shop my Benable list, OR just comment DATE below and I’ll send the direct link to your DMs! 💌
