Ever met someone and thought, “Wait… could this person actually be my co-founder?”

Don’t answer that question too quickly.

Because being great to work with doesn’t necessarily make someone a great co-founder.

A co-founder is someone you’ll share equity, risk, money, uncertainty, conflict, big decisions and hopefully, some really big wins.

So how do you know if someone is actually the right fit?

I use what I call the Yin-Yang Method.

The idea is simple:

Don’t look for someone who is just like you.
Look for someone who complements you.

Ask yourself:

What do I bring?
What am I missing?
And does this person bring what the business genuinely needs?

Because the best partnerships aren’t built on having the same strengths.

They’re built on different strengths moving in the same direction.

Different enough to complement.
Aligned enough to build.

And I’ve actually created an elaborate Yin-Yang Test Scorecard to help you evaluate a potential co-founder before you make that decision.

Want it?

Comment “YINYANG” below and I’ll share it with you.

And yes it’s absolutely free. 🤍

Hey!!
Last year I embarked on a podcasting journey despite having no technical background. Despite the initial lack of expertise, my curiosity and openness drove me to create something meaningful.

The first four episodes were a learning experience in the podcasting landscape. While the success may be modest, I see it as an opportunity to grow, fostering inclusivity and diversity. As we approach March or April this year, more podcast episodes will be coming your way as I get a more podcast friendly place to record.

Have you had a chance to check out the podcast, and if so, did you enjoy it?

Do we have a water crisis or a relationship crisis with water?

In this episode of Decoding Social Impact, I talk with Mr Ranjan Panda, popularly known as the Water Man of Odisha, to explore one of the defining challenges of our time.

We discuss water governance, climate resilience, indigenous knowledge, entrepreneurship opportunities in the water sector, and why the future belongs to those who build solutions for water.

If you’re interested in sustainability, climate action, entrepreneurship, public policy, or creating meaningful impact, this conversation is for you.

Three toxic habits I developed while building my startup.

1. Stopping reading, something I once genuinely loved, because work slowly consumed all my time and headspace.

2. Neglecting my health because there was always something more urgent to deal with.

3. Becoming suspicious of good news because I got so used to things going wrong that even a win came with the fear of what might go wrong next.

Somewhere between chasing revenue, managing uncertainty, and trying to make things work, I realised that building a startup doesn’t just test your business skills. It changes you as a person, too.

I’m still ambitious. I still want to build something meaningful. But I’m learning that success shouldn’t require losing the parts of yourself that made you who you are.

Now tell me about yours.

What’s one toxic habit you’ve developed while building your startup or chasing your goals? Let’s talk about the side of ambition nobody puts on their vision board.

If you’re a founder and you haven’t “made it” yet, congratulations -you’re officially everyone’s favourite topic of discussion.

Because apparently, when you’re building something from scratch, everyone becomes a business expert.

“Abhi tak toh kuch bana nahi hai…”
“Kitna kama lete ho?”
“Ye actually chalega?”
“Job kar lete toh better tha.”
“Tumse toh nahi hoga.”

And my personal favourite:

“I’m just being realistic.”

Of course. Because nothing says *realistic* like giving unsolicited career advice to someone whose journey you know absolutely nothing about. 😂

The truth is, people will happily judge the results before they ever understand the process.

They’ll see the meetings, the posts, the confidence, the growth
but not the money you put in, the risks you took, the opportunities you gave up, the failures you swallowed, or the nights you spent wondering if any of this was worth it.

So if you’re still building, stop trying to prove your vision to people who only understand outcomes.

Put your blinders on.
Get obsessed with the work.
Let them talk.

Because eventually, the same people asking,
“But is this even working?”

will casually say,

“I always knew you would make it.” 🙂

Keep building.
Your job is not to convince them.

Your job is to make them irrelevant to the story.
