Happy Gotcha Day to my wrinkly big boy Mario! 🎉 It’s been 3 years since Mario roadtripped his way across the country to his forever home with me in California. ❤️🌆☀️

Mario’s original owner surrendered him to rescue because of human aggression, especially toward children. He also had an incident immediately after arriving at his foster home and was returned within a couple days. He waited months and months in boarding for the right home…

And look at him now! 😍 He goes everywhere and does all the fun things! Here he is at Tunnel View in Yosemite 🏞️, where he impressed all the tourists. I am so proud of Mario’s progress and am deeply grateful to be his human, but behind the photos is endless training to keep him safe and well behaved. 😉

It is a profound privilege to have a Mastino, and one that comes with huge costs and responsibilities, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I absolutely love this boy with all my heart and am so fortunate to have him. ❤️

Mario visited more pools this summer than he has in his entire life but still doesn’t like swimming. 😆 This tropical pool was fun though! 🌺🌴

Mario got to see one of the best views of the southern Oregon coast! 🌊 We watched the sunrise from the deck since the climb down was too dangerous for the big guy. 🫣

Celebrated my birthday doing what I love most: hanging out with my best boy. 🎈 Mario had the best time road tripping down the Northern California coast. 🚙🌲

Spent a night glamping at @mendocino_grove. 🏕️

Had an amazing sleep in this super comfy bed. 🛌

Mouthwatering dinner for the big guy. 🐇

Can I come out, please?

The tub was way too small so he got a bath on the deck. 🚿 taken in Mendocino Grove by @trisha_l

Mario and KöKō had such a fun pool day! 💦 Figuring out how to get the toys without actually getting in the water was so exhausting. 😂

Also, how cute are they in their @ruffwear float coats!? 🦺
