one year ago today a freshly graduated me packed her life away to travel the world with a bunch of strangers. what I wasn’t aware of at the time was that I was just a couple flights and a long layover in Canada away from having my world completely flipped on its axis, in the most beautifully transformative way imaginable. I had always heard that that travel changes you, and up until my experience with EF I never really grasped how. However, this past year has provided me with some of the most monumental and in some ways, life saving relationships and experiences. What I found to be so insanely special about traveling is how quickly it breaks the illusion that our current reality is our only option. I boarded that first plane full of nerves, curiosity, and with not a clue in hell what I was getting myself into. 14 new countries, 4 tattoos, hours of service work in both France and Thailand, and a completed international internship in the entrepreneurial capital of the world later, I can very confidently say that straying away from the “traditional path” turned out to be the most educational, exciting, and fulfilling experience of my life. this past year has not only solidified my passion for travel, but has also provided a strong direction for my future. for the people who have been asking about my future endeavors, after a few more adventures and the completion of my bachelors degree, I am so excited to announce that I will begin my flight attendant training in the next upcoming years. I strongly believe that I would have never had the courage to make these dreams my priority without the experiences and support system that EF provided me. here’s to many more years of travel, and happy one year to all my fellow EF students <3 by @trishelle.s
