POSTS STORIES REELS

I wrote this one twelve years ago, letting go of my first serious love.
I sat down, picked up my guitar, and it arrived almost complete, start to finish, in one sitting. It’s the closest thing to a transmission I’ve ever received.
Blessings is from my self-titled album, Tris Ross, coming this winter. Some of these songs I’ve been playing for twelve years and never recorded until now!
Follow on Bandcamp and you’ll hear it first — link in bio!

Recorded at @yellow_barn_estate_guest_house by @itslilacmilk (video), @mconverse95 (audio) and @brokenfixednow / Christian Brocard (audio / Yellow Barn proprietor) - thank you all for helping me bring this song to life!

I learned this song in Pokhara in 2015, after traveling up from India by train and then bus.
I stayed at a guest house where two brothers started teaching me songs in Nepali. Timi Bhane was one of the first, and my introduction to Nepali rock! It’s carried me through some hard times since.
तिमी भने — thank you, Albatross! If you don’t know them, go give ‘Timi Bhane’ a listen!
Today I’m announcing my self-titled album, Tris Ross, out this winter! More Nepali covers coming too — follow along!

Recorded at @yellow_barn_estate_guest_house with @brokenfixednow / Christian Brocard!
Great footage by @itslilacmilk , audio recording by @mconverse95 !!

फूलको आँखामा फूलै संसार 🌸 Phoolko Aankhaamaa
Flowers see flowers and thorns see thorns! What world are you living in?
I have always loved this song of @anichoyingdrolmaofficial and @nhyoo.bajracharya : I think it is based on words by Durga Lal Shrestha-Ji.

“Timi Bhane” by Albatross stands among the most recognizable songs in Nepali rock, carrying an emotional language built around longing, waiting, and the quiet hope of someone’s return. Associated with the band’s Jo Jas Sanga Sambandhit Chha EP from the mid-2000s, the song has grown beyond its original era through its heartfelt writing, memorable melody, and distinctly emotive rock character. Even years later, its simplicity continues to make it feel personal, familiar, and beautifully timeless.

Bringing that nostalgia into a more intimate setting, Tris Ross revisits “Timi Bhane” through an acoustic rendition shaped by a personal connection to the song. As shared with the performance, he learned the song in Pokhara in 2015, and this stripped-back interpretation lets its emotion unfold gently through voice and acoustic guitar. What emerges is less a recreation and more a tender revisit of a song remembered, learned, and carried through time.

🇳🇵 Rasuwa & Nuwakot flood relief — verified donation links in my bio and pinned comment! Please give 🙏🏻💔🙏🏻
The most recent song I’ve learned in Nepali. @tsering_dhundup_gurung ‘s voice captivated me the moment I heard it!
Been studying Nepali for over a decade. More Nepali music on the way — follow along!
लौ सुन सुन — from Suman Sen’s short film The Silent Echo, about four boys in Mustang who turn an abandoned bus into a rehearsal room. Original by Tsering Dhundup Gurung and Dipali Pradhan. If you haven’t seen the film, go watch it!
Its bittersweetness moved my heart. Singing along here, humbly.

#hanumanchalisa - last 4 chaupais (verses) with translation…

One of the coolest things I’ve had the opportunity to learn this year, the Hanuman Chalisa is a beloved hymn to Hanuman, foremost servant of Rama in the Ramayana and is sung devotionally widely across South Asia. It was composed by the Hindu saint Tulsidas in the 16th century. I know I’ve experienced the powerful energy of this song and if you want to share in it, check out the full version on the Tris Ross YouTube!

Tune is original. Translation/version is by @ninaraochant, find a full version on her wonderful website.

Full “Walkman” video is here! 🎥

This song had been sitting in my back pocket for a while. I wasn’t planning to release it until @pranatshah_ hit me with the idea of filming a music video using vintage gear, and suddenly the whole thing clicked - a song about cassette tapes, nostalgia, and finding the magic in life before we’re old enough to know what we have. 📼🌥️💛🧡💚

Thank you to everyone who’s been showing love this past 24 hours!! Song is out on all platforms - link in bio to full 4K version on YouTube!

Peace 🕊️
