About 2/3 years in the making, I wrote this about my religious deconstruction but it’s for anyone who’s ever loved, lost and somehow turned that aching grief into something beautiful. I went through some traumatic times a few years ago that caused me to feel like I had lost parts of myself for good. This song was a reminder that when you slow down and look within you will find yourself again and again and again. Stay true to you 💫

This morning I wept for 10 minutes over that scene in The Color Purple (1985 film) when Shug Avery hugged her father the pastor and said, “See daddy? Sinners have soul too.” I resonate so deeply with her character in that scene because I too would like to snatch the solo from the choir and make the pastor cry. 🥹 by @troielle
