A total of 14 new trees were planted yesterday at Fairview Memorial Park!

We’re grateful to be part of this effort, coordinated by the Chicago Region Trees Initiative and @mortonarb, to help grow and care for our local tree canopy. These new trees will be a lasting addition to the landscape for generations to come! taken in Fairview Memorial Park by @troostcemeteries

Summer is winding down, and before we know it, the colors of fall will be returning to our grounds.

These photos from last fall are a little glimpse of what’s just around the corner: golden leaves, crisp mornings, and the beauty of a changing season.

As we prepare for fall, a reminder that our annual fall cleanup will be taking place soon. Families who wish to keep seasonal decorations or personal items are asked to pick them up before cleanup begins. Cleanup schedules are as follows:

Oct. 1-30: Arlington Cemetery, Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Parkholm Cemetery, Mount Hope Cemetery and Lincoln Memorial Park

Oct. 15-31: Mt. Greenwood Cemetery

Oct. 20-31: River Hills Memorial Park

Nov. 1-15: Fairview Memorial Park

We look forward to welcoming the beauty of another fall season across our cemeteries.

We had such a wonderful time at the DuPage County Fall Senior Expo this week!

It was a great opportunity to meet members of our community, share what our cemeteries have to offer, and have meaningful conversations about planning ahead, honoring loved ones, and the many ways we can help families along the way.

🕊️ Today is National Grief Awareness Day. We recognize those who are grieving the loss of someone they love and remind them that there is no "right" way or set amount of time to grieve.

At Troost Cemeteries, we know that remembrance can be an important part of the journey. A visit to a gravesite, sharing a favorite story, looking through old photographs, or simply saying their name can help keep a loved one's memory close.

Today, and every day, there is space for grief. And there is space for remembrance.

Grounds visitation is open and closes 30 mins after sunset today at our locations.

Cemetery Trivia: Have you ever noticed a monument that looks like a tree trunk with chopped-off branches?

Do you know what it represents?

👇 Here’s the answer!

These unique monuments mark the graves of members of Modern Woodmen of America and Woodmen of the World, fraternal benefit societies founded in 1890 that provided financial security and life insurance to their members.

One of their most distinctive benefits was a tree-stump monument, provided to members at no additional cost. Each monument was designed to resemble a natural tree trunk and hand-carved from limestone or sandstone by a local stone carver.

Did you know? Arlington Cemetery Elmhurst is home to a large Modern Woodmen of America group monument, erected in 1913.

Next time you’re visiting one of our cemeteries, take a closer look — you might spot one of these fascinating pieces of history!

Exciting news is on the horizon! We are pleased to announce a beautiful new mausoleum is planned for Spring 2027. This addition will offer both above-ground crypt spaces and cremation niches, providing families with lasting options for memorialization in a peaceful and dignified setting.
