Important Update: For nearly 38 years, Tropical Fruits has been a volunteer-powered labour of love ~ a regional queer home built through a stubborn commitment to community, creativity and collective care.

Over the past few years we’ve weathered a lot.
Bushfires. COVID. And the devastating 2022 floods, which badly damaged our clubhouse and destroyed essential equipment and infrastructure.

Many of you will remember the $1.4 million rebuild grant we received after the floods. It helped get the bones of the building back in place ~ but the reality of rebuilding has been more complex than anyone anticipated. Construction inflation, revised engineering, and compliance issues have pushed costs far beyond the original scope.

Today the structure stands, but the fit-out remains incomplete. Walls, plastering, finishing details ~ the work that turns a shell back into a welcoming home.

Right now Tropical Fruits has no permanent base, our belongings remain in storage, and significant funding is still needed to complete the clubhouse rebuild and stabilise the organisation.

But the good news is this:

Our community is still here.
The care, creativity, volunteer spirit and queer brilliance that make Tropical Fruits what it is are absolutely flourishing.

So today we’re asking our community to help carry this next chapter.

Our Australian Cultural Fund fundraiser is now live. Donations are tax-deductible, and every contribution helps us complete the rebuild and protect the future of Tropical Fruits.

If Fruits has ever given you connection, joy, belonging, recovery, friendship, release ~ or simply the relief of being surrounded by people who get you ~ this is a moment to stand together.

Donate if you can.
Share widely if you can’t.

Consider becoming a financial member of our club thru our website - this gives you discounts on all Fruits events, inc 15% off NYE festival tix.

It’s time to start getting hot and wet here in Lismore!

Join us for our first decor workshop of the year on Sunday 25th October to make giant insects for NYE. We’ll be using a range of found materials to make dragonflies, butterflies, beetles and creepy crawlies.

You can find us at 120 Casino Street South Lismore from 10am-4pm. Pop in for an hour or two, or come the whole time! We’ll provide lunch and refreshments as we create the world of Riparia here on Widjabul Wia-bal Jagun.

Please note that parking in front of the premises is reserved for those with accessibility needs, please park across the road and in the Nesbit Carpark. The workshop will take place downstairs and amenities are upstairs. Accessible toilets are available across the road at Nesbit Park.

You can also find us here doing decor every Thursday from 10am, we would love for you to join us! by @tropicalfruitsinc
