Mugsville IRL Number 1. 🍦

Britain started talking about the price of a 99.
We noticed something very Mugsville about a 99 that… didn’t cost 99p.

So, together with iD Mobile, we headed to Clacton-on-Sea and did the unthinkable:
sold a 99 for 99p.
No hidden extras. No creeping costs. Just a very reasonably priced ice cream.

From news moment to seafront in a matter of days because Mugsville was built to go wherever Britain is feeling a little bit mugged off.
Sometimes that’s your phone contract.
Sometimes it’s your ice cream.
99p means 99p.

Days after launching Mugsville with iD Mobile, we were handed a pretty perfect Mugsville moment. The price of a 99 ice cream had become an unlikely talking point in the Clacton by-election. Because somewhere along the way, a 99 stopped costing 99p.

So we moved fast with the team at iD Mobile to make it make sense again:

This wasn’t about getting involved in the politics. It was spotting a cultural conversation that landed squarely on the idea Mugsville was built around: the everyday prices, hidden fees and creeping costs Brits have somehow been conditioned to put up with - and then doing something about it.
