Fog of Uncertainty. A really fun climb on featured rock. Tyler Philips and I put it up 2 weeks ago in some very uncertain weather conditions. Mark clipping his way up for the 3rd ascent. #somewhereincolorado jk, its on the proj. Under Winter Wall in the northern swell. In the process of the FA we coreshot our rope (as well as my jacket) on some sharp edges (which have now been “comfortized”) Mark here is climbing on the Eagle Lite Protect, with an extra layer of aramid in the sheath, it greatly reduces the chances of cutting the sheath on sharp edges, like we did previously. #edelrid #team_edelrid #firstascent #creativetechnology by @troutmanoriginal

Just goof’n off on the finishing hero jug of a rad FA @thereal_markevans and I put up in the Winds in 2018. Somehow it’s 2026 now… which brings me to my question… Does anyone care how a new route is put up? As in, top-down power drill, or ground-up on hooks, hand drilling on LSD? Obviously, one makes a way better story, but does it make it a better route? Probably not. I personally stick to what I consider as the Golden Rule of just “Make it Rad!” I think in the generic concept of rock climbing, just make a route that other people will be stoked to climb. I feel like the days of creating a heroic test piece for future generations to pee their pants on is a becoming a thing of the past. If you want to quest up a giant pile of choss to see if God still wants you around, that’s still totally available, but for the most part, just make it rad! I've stared at this line for over a decade. Then, a few weeks ago, @aimeedonaruma was excited to check it out with me. I'm really glad we did. It's a total blast! Well bolted, fun climbing on super unique holds; no harder than 10d. 5 min approach, all day sun. Enjoy! Pitch 2 is a bit crumbly still, but hey, its the swell. Link in bio by @troutmanoriginal
