On this date 42 years ago. Jackson 5 - touring for album, 'Victory.' This is when the Jackson family drama started. Michael didn't want to do the tour but relented when his brothers begged him. Michael didn't need the money but his brothers did. There was sponsorship drama, ticket sales drama, drama with their father Joseph and management drama. Oh and more drama when Michael refused to do any material from the new Jackson 5 'Victory' album they were touring for! This actually turned out to be more of a tour for Michael's solo album, 'Thriller.'

I have been attending the Covered Bridge Festival since I was a kid. Since moving back to Iowa in 2011 we've only missed one. As far as I know it's the last chance in Iowa to attend an outdoor festival. The weather is always unpredictable so some years it's cold, some it's rainy and some it's hot - and some the weather is spectacular. This year it was somewhere in between hot and spectacular. Over the years the festival has changed. This year - I truly felt like I was at a food-fest - which isn't horrible - I don't think I can get enough of the homemade tamales or pork chops on a 'stick'. But the festival booted the Bread Shed which is a HUGE loss and an incredibly short-sighted decision. BRING THEM BACK!!! How about adding a full carnival w/rides for the kids/younger people at City Park? Fireworks on Saturday night? An antique flea market at the fairgrounds? A hot air balloon morning flight event at the airport? Maybe a partnership with Living History Farms to get some of the old time flavor back? Shuttle busses to get everyone around? It's a great tradition and I want to see it thrive. Saturday we attended two different times and you could have shot a cannon thru the square and not hit anyone - maybe I'm exaggerating a little? Sunday we went around 12noon and it was busy but seemed a bit lackluster. I'll always go for those pork chops though so I'll always support the festival. by @troy_chipoletti

On this date 38 years ago. Michael Jackson - touring for album, 'Bad.' This was his first solo tour and he had so many iconic hit songs at this point in his career it was really a tour for 'Off The Wall', 'Thriller', BAD...and Jackson 5 material too. It was one hit after another - no 'filler' songs! Interesting note: Sheryl Crow was one of his back-up singers on this tour and dueted with him on "I Just Can't Stop Loving You". This was my 2nd time seeing him live. Awesome, awesome night...he was such an amazing performer. #newjersey by @troy_chipoletti

Back to the 'am I crazy' category. Whenever I go down to our basement I'm afraid I'm going to encounter a rattlesnake. Why? Because I think we live in rattlesnake territory - and there have been 'sightings'. Once when I was a little kid a garter snake got into our basement - so is this snake PTSD?? by @troy_chipoletti

Ha.Two great nights of Marianne and Tony just talking - telling stories they never have time to tell during a live show. It was fascinating. I miss NYC! by @troy_chipoletti
