One of the coolest and most special moments of our entire trip to The Jack had absolutely nothing to do with barbecue! ❤️

Our great friends, the BEERS crew from New Zealand, made the trip all the way to Lynchburg, Tennessee, and brought along a surprise that we'll never forget!

Last summer, Reid had the incredible opportunity to hunt fallow deer on the South Island of New Zealand. An experience of a lifetime and one that already held a pretty special place in our hearts.

Well, fast forward to The Jack, halfway around the world, and our good friend Scott Carnochan surprised Reid with the beautifully tanned hide from the very fallow deer he harvested in New Zealand!

Talk about a FULL CIRCLE moment! 🇳🇿🇺🇸

To see that hide make its way from the South Island of New Zealand all the way to Lynchburg, Tennessee, and into Reid's hands was something I'll never forget.

As a dad, these are the moments that mean the most. The memories, the friendships, the experiences, and the people who go out of their way to make something special for your kid.

Scott, I can't thank you enough, brother. What an incredibly thoughtful gesture. That hide will be treasured for a lifetime, but the story and friendship behind it mean even more.

Barbecue has taken us to some incredible places, but it's the people we've met along the way who make this journey so special.

From the South Island of New Zealand to the hills of Lynchburg, Tennessee. What a moment! ❤️🇳🇿🇺🇸

We have arrived in Lynchburg Tennessee, home of the @jackdaniels_us World BBQ Championship.
🔥
We flew Christchurch ✈️ Auckland ✈️ Houston ✈️ Nashville. Landing in Houston we declared our NZ Lamb, Beef, Pork,Butter, Honey and @wholeharry maple syrup. The customs team at the airport took us aside and didn’t really know what to do with us, after an hour or so delay we were cleared to go.
At the airport there was a terminal closed so the whole airport was backed up, queues about 200 people long, and with 30 minutes to get on the plane to Nashville we knew we were in trouble.
With a bit of kiwi ingenuity Fish, Rocky, Bridget and myself made it to the gate after sprinting a couple of mile through 3 terminals and we talked the united crew into letting us on at the last minute, we do love a late hand in.

Wayne and Charlotte were stuck getting their bags inspected for a 2nd time and with their phones flat they were in a bit of trouble. United bumped Charlotte and Wayne onto the next flight , and we were all safe in Nashville by midnight, after about 30 hours in the air and sky. It was lucky Charlotte was with Wayne otherwise he would still be wandering around Houston airport as we speak.

We spend the next day shopping for some supplies around Nashville, and found some St Louis ribs after visiting about 8 shops.

Arriving in Lynchburg we attended the champions dinner and the BBQ Hill event, meeting a lot of the legends of bbq and seeing the Jack Daniel’s Distillery.

Out of the 100 teams attending, we were selected as one of five teams to compete in the “I know Jack about Grillin” live cooking competition today, we are just about to go and cook a mystery box with a main, 2 sides and a dessert in 1 hour, so just like a normal dinner at home cooking for Oak and Zig.

The big show is tomorrow and we are all ready, fingers crossed the hurricance misses us but it is scheduled to hit right on cooking time.

Ziggy and Oak have had another lap around the sun and are now 4 and nearly 7, each day learning some new karate and life skills 🥰

This week we said goodbye to my best friend Wonton 🐈‍⬛
8 beautiful years , he has walked up mountains , ran down the beach, explored forests and been a core part of our family.
He lived every day as if it was his last, and Tuesday was last🙏
A year ago the vet said he had a week to live and he lived for a whole extra year, with a smile.
Thanks for all the memories and being there for me, you are forever in my heart ❤️‍🩹 by @troybilbrough

Team @beersbybaconbros were honoured to cater the VIPS and Players at the @nzopengolf .
🔥🔥
@davidmills65 from Coleridge Downs, @alliancegroup_nz, @lumina.farms , and @mtcook_alpinesalmon tasked us with creating the best food on any golf course in the world , and we did a pretty awesome job. Cooking with world class products was a dream.

Thanks to chef @kinnearhorsburgh for the 100 hour week and Chef Tristan and Ryan for doing the mahi 💪💪 The big days from 5am - midnight were tough but it was worth it to feed legends like @kellyslater , Stephen Flemming, @rickyponting , @larryfitzgerald and many more.

Last year was all about cooking with my bbq family all around the world, I love you all 🙏🙏🔥🔥🥩🥩
I was lucky enough to be able to travel to Texas, Australia and around NZ cooking with some of the best in the world. We did 24 bbq classes in 2025 spreading the bbq knowledge and ran Smoke in the Park bbq comp which got people talking about bbq around the city.
