Benjamin,
Today is the Summer Solstice. The longest Day of the year, and the shortest night too. And this one falls on a very special day.

Your Mom asked what I wanted for this special occasion, but I couldn’t really think of anything besides some more music equipment to be honest with you. But then your Grandpa called me to help him and his Brothers to throw a party! So, I told your Mom, and then we did just that. I’m sure you weren’t expecting so much people to be in Daddy’s family. But I’m grateful you had a chance to meet them all!
Although, you were supposed to be a surprise to Grandpa; he already knew. Apparently, you look like me! I don’t understand why, but it made me really happy to hear that. Lately, I’ve been hesitant to show your face, it wasn’t always like this before. The World has definitely changed since I wrote a similar letter to your Older Brother around this time. A lot has changed. But I can’t help but share my joy with this World, and I don’t really think anyone cares anymore. Or even reads sometimes.

Anyways, make sure to always look out for your brother and be there for him. You two have to get along for Daddy’s sake, no matter what. And do what makes you happy. Oh! And be kind. That’s all I ask of you. I’ve already gotten all I wanted and need.
It’s something that your Grandpa tells Dad all the time.

Didn’t get the Piano Instructor Job, but that doesn’t discourage me!
Developed some better studying habits cause it put a fire under my ass. Been able to sight read even faster. I think it would be neat to pivot into being an educator one day in the future. Gotta git gud tho!

This is a Melody I wrote in D Major, it’s supposed to be more bright and uplifting in this key signature. I was reflecting about the past few Summers while playing, but also trying to impose the impression of “falling down”.

What is Success?
Is it staring into a sea of people, specifically here for your proof of work, or into the eyes of your lover and children?
Is it the numerical value in one’s checking account or is it the freedom it can buy?
Is it a list of Achievements and Trophies on display or is it the things you’re capable of as of right now, unnoticed?
Is it what’s in your wallet, in your refrigerator, or maybe your garden?
Is it a lifestyle or a product readily available for purchase?
Do you study marketing videos and trends to make “better” content or are you studying elsewhere trying to make something yourself that’s considered timeless?
Is it your name on a Flyer, a Movie, a Photograph, a Portrait, a Shirt, a few songs, maybe even a book, or is it gonna be on an intricate urn with your ashes in it surrounded by friends?
Does it change, if no one else existed?
The meaning? The definition?

Almost “home”, but home is wherever you and my laptops are, really.
Just say the word, and I’ll sell all my belongings.
I’m not really afraid to start over anymore. Our parents have done it plenty of times.
We’ve done it before, we’ll build another nest, and we’ll do it all over again, and again, (road runner) and again, (road runner) and again, (road runner) and again.

One more night?

Stay a little longer, it’s all temporary anyways.

Then in the morning, we’ll stop playing pretend and return to what we consider “normal”.

(Hot water, Cold water. More Sex in the city. Found some more books and a toy. Wifey has told me about this author before, one of the first people to document their insight on people like us. Day 3 in Austin.
Kids and I woke up late.
Went to the aquarium, just cause.
It’s definitely smaller than the one at home, but seemingly had its own charm!
Felt nice to play in the water, I don’t understand why I have such an affinity with this miraculous and magical property.
Could be cause being born under the Moon, controlling the Oceans tides, the ebb and flow of emotions.
Could be cause of where my parents originally hail from, it is the start of Monsoon season after all.

Afterwards, we went to a thrift store and antique mall to see what this city had to offer. What people had in their homes here. What they considered was Art, before no longer having a use or meaning anymore.

Rained really hard afterwards and the lights went out momentarily.

I found a well-used, worn, and meticulously highlighted book that piques my interest.

Saw a really good movie last night with a friend and it inspired me to start studying Spanish again haha.
