TWO NOMINATIONS. ONE INCREDIBLE RIDE. 🛹

We are beyond proud to announce that BOSSLADYSK8 has received TWO nominations at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival @tinffestival and will be screened during opening night tomorrow - Friday, September 4th at 9:15 PM. Following the screening there will be a Q&A with @truedaley and the @bossladysk8 herself, Sasha Senior 👑

BOSSLADYSK8 began with a story that deserved to be told — the story of Sasha Senior, a trailblazer who carved out her own space in skate culture and became the first Black woman to own a skateboard shop in North America @blisssk8shop

But this documentary has always been about more than skating.

It is about representation.
It is about entrepreneurship.
It is about community.
It is about Black women creating space, building something of their own, and leaving a legacy behind them.

To have this story recognized in TWO categories is an incredible honour.

From an idea, to a camera, to the screen, to TWO nominations...

There is a scene in BOSSLADYSK8 where Sasha Senior is depicted as a warrior woman in a mystical world which is a nod to Afrofuturism. When I think of Black women and those who are “the first” I see them as the embodiment of the phrase “I am my ancestor’s wildest dream”. Behind the scenes and in front of the camera, there was a team of Black women whose creative talents, skill and passions brought my vision to reality.
