The LIGHT We Carry , was a thoughtfully curated show by @tempesttheartist , all black women artist… it really was able to capture the essence of who we are as melanated people. The layers, the veneration to those before us, the foundations and homes we build daily in private , family , and community , I felt seen and carried.

Hopefully you were able to catch this light while walking through @posthtx , here are some of my favorite pieces & moments of the show ….

I throughly enjoyed the book & art swap @sweetminds_ the place is dope , the vibe was inter- generational . This bookstore / gallery is bridging the gap in our community and I am here for it ! by @truleiversatile

You heard : I’ve been preforming again.

I used to hold myself to committing all of my poems to memory before I put myself out there, and I felt like it was a crutch I was using to never get behind the mic. So I’ve been doing it … and you should come see, feel and experience with me , as I bloom into me - Tru

So I did a thing I joined @stayclosetay for his collage workshop at MFAH , we were taken through their archives of Black magazines , original copies. Learned the power of the press and using our voice + visuals.

Our task was to create a magazine cover, mine was called “Dirty Dreams” it would be full of editorial stories that uniquely encapsulate the history , influence and edification of Black culture by the white systemic society that we live in.

This was the first art piece I have created that wasn’t digital in a very long time so I was proud to have something completed 10/10. I would do it again. by @truleiversatile
