This video is from June last year — the first time I visited Pakistan after moving to Australia and becoming a mum. She had no idea I was coming. It was the first time she met her grandbaby, and seeing her reaction still makes my heart ache in the best way.

For the longest time, I couldn’t bring myself to post this. Everyone told me to share it, but it felt too raw… too close to my heart.

She’s always been my person — my safest space, my best friend, the one I could share even my darkest secrets with and never be judged, only loved. But as life changed — marriage, motherhood, distance — so did our bond. Not in love, but in the way we exist together now.

I’ve become quieter… less expressive. Maybe it’s the distance, or maybe it’s me trying to protect her from worrying. I used to tell her everything; now our calls are short and simple, when once they were long talks about life — just me and her.

Sometimes I miss that version of us, and the Dua I used to be with her. I don’t know why I’m writing all this today, but I guess I just needed to let it out.

On her birthday today, I just want to say — I miss you, Mama. More than words, more than distance, and more than I ever show. 🤍 Happy Birthday ♥️

Don’t miss their Mutton Shinwari Karahi if you know that real taste of shinwari Karahi with minimal spices but absolutely melt in mouth meat ahaaa🤤🤤🤤

I think there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like from the things we tried, which includes bbq, chicken handi, chicken biryani, Lahori fish (expect a diff kind of fish not the exact lahori style but I liked it), super refreshing mocktails chai and gulab jamun 🥹🤤♥️
