“Watchers: The End” was finished, for the meantime, early last month. A double tower reaching upward and protruding down through itself. A feathered bird-woman staring into the stars on the final night. Over the course of last year, I worked to hone the necessary carpentry skills in order to realize the tower, and worked equally hard to learn mold-making and taxidermy in order to create the bird-woman.
I want to thank everyone who came to the exhibition to hear me mix some soundscapes to accompany the end of a world right next to our own. Especially, a thank you to my advisors and mentors. Thank you to @taz_laursen for the endless hours of gab in the sculpture lab. Thank you to @evaastrid37 for sitting with me in the woodshop as I puzzled the tower together. Thank you to @situation5000 for the late-night conversations as I painted the it. Thank you to @trishnovaa for helping me disassemble, transport, and reassemble the tower in the CCRMA Listening Room at Stanford. And thank you to @emergentvessels and @celloenjoyer for the videos! Thank you to all my friends who helped me through a crazy time :)

“ONE MOLECULE SAID YES TO ANOTHER (AND LIFE WAS BORN)” is a group exhibition in a DIY/experimental gallery in the Bay Area situtated in a repurposed industrial metal building, featuring fifteen artists working across living fungi sculptures, mammoth technology, cuttlefish-inspired camoflaging materials, haptic gardens and more.

This exhibition traces the unstable boundaries between the divine and the fleshy, the sacred and the raw. Through works that deconstruct and mutate natural bodies into unfamiliar forms, it asks what calls us toward our primordial origins: the alive, the pulsating, the grotesque. Life — whether human, microbial, cellular—is broken down, repurposed, and born anew. Bodies become sites of alchemical transformation: dissected, preserved, electrified, yet beneath this material fragmentation lies a persistent longing for connection, for the umbilical, for the moist nothing from which all things emerged. Swamps, spines, salt marshes, and cuttlefish are oracles of a world in flux. These works do not simply document a world unraveling; they gesture toward new ways of sensing and assembling life from its remnants, divining what futures might still be born from what remains.
