Mid 2000s. Born hunters Zap and Flash with a solid Western Ruahine billy and the trusty 222, girls still catching wind, ready to run. No flash tracking gear then. #cullinglife #conservation #conservationdogs #goatcontrol #bailingdog #indicatingdogs #indicatingbailingdogs #myline #headingdogs #workingdogs #sako222 #leupoldoptics #borntohunt #ripratso #ripflashy by @trusty_222

Looking forward to a bit more of this action. First season game fishing for us and Hot Barrels in 2024. Had a couple of hookups with one having a lucky escape before we finally boated 1 and tagged another for the day with @dep_reload and Richard out of Ragland. Thanks to everyone who has help get us across the line, we’re hooked. #hotbarrels by @trusty_222

A late start and finish at Waihau Bay aboard “Hot Barrels” looking for a Blue Fin tuna towards a couple of @tkoffshorefishing marks. Managed to snag a couple in sporty conditions, spent the night anchored in the bay and early getaway in the morning. #hotbarrels #bluefintuna #SBFT #bluefin by @trusty_222

Been just over 18 months now since we picked up the boat. Being new to boating I’ve had plenty to learn, but thanks to experienced mates who have spent the time to show me the ropes we have stayed safe and had some great times around the coast. The majority of the fishing so far has been on the West Coast out of Kawhia and Mokau, with the odd sorte in the BOP and Raglan. We have managed a good mixed bag of fish and managed to tick off a few goals recently. #hotbarrels #huntingwater #snapper #gurnard #kingfish #hotbarrels by @trusty_222

A couple nights fly camping with Leah in the Ruahines, great trip. by @trusty_222

The beginning of my hunting career , starting my apprenticeship with a great team of hunters on Mt Taranaki in the summer season 1995/96. Carrying packs, training dogs, Sako vixen 222’s and Leupold 2-7s, Buller gumboots, canvas puttees and black wooly singlets. No cell phones, no satellite comms, no dog tracking gear, just your own resilience and work ethic to get you thru. Weeks of rain, flooded rivers, kilometres of swamp, windfall, bush lawyer, kiekie, supplejack and leatherwood. 4 seasons on the mountain and 4 years in the Taranaki team, working thru Taranaki, Whanganui and Taumaranui regions was just the start and definitely a great training ground. by @trusty_222
