"Before Abraham was born, I AM." Then they picked up stones. Why?

EXODUS 3:14 — God speaks to Moses
"I AM WHO I AM. Say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you."
Hebrew: אהיה אשר אהיה — ehyeh asher ehyeh

JOHN 8:58–59 — Jesus speaks
"Truly, truly, I say to you: before Abraham was born, I AM." So they picked up stones to throw at him.
Greek: πρὶν Ἀβραὰμ γενέσθαι ἐγὼ εἰμί — prin Abraam genesthai egō eimi

They knew exactly what he meant. Taking God's name was blasphemy, and blasphemy meant stoning (Leviticus 24:16). Jesus said it anyway.

Open both verses yourself. Why did they reach for stones?

Proof 2 of 5 — "Is Jesus God?" Proof 3 tomorrow: "Every knee" (Isaiah 45:23 / Philippians 2:10).

"Jesus never claimed to be God." Then who is speaking in Revelation 1?

ISAIAH 44:6 — God speaks
"Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no God."
Hebrew: אני ראשון ואני אחרון — ani rishon va-ani acharon

REVELATION 1:17–18 — Jesus speaks
"Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore."
Greek: ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ πρῶτος καὶ ὁ ἔσχατος — egō eimi ho prōtos kai ho eschatos

Same title. God says no one else holds it. Jesus takes it.

Open both verses yourself. Which one is wrong?

Proof 1 of 5 — "Is Jesus God?" Proof 2 tomorrow: "I AM" (Exodus 3:14 / John 8:58).
