Big fan of this whole “becoming parents” thing. I can’t believe it’s been 7 weeks already. It’s official: Sawyer is perfect. That is no doubt thanks to his mom.

Watching her bring this kid into the world was one of the most humbling and incredible things I’ve ever witnessed. It was hard, it was scary, and she just kept finding more to give. I remember looking at her over and over again thinking there is genuinely nothing this woman can’t do.

And now I get to watch her be his mom every day, which has only confirmed it. So excited for Sawyer to grow up knowing his mom is a total gangster 💙 by @tscove

I want to start by saying: We believe that platforms for survivors must exist. Victims deserve to be heard. That is important.

Harm of any kind is never okay, we all are deeply sorry to hear about any abuse occurring especially at one of our own spaces. We recognize the lasting impact of such trauma and honor the courage it takes to speak about it.

The only situation ever brought to our attention was relayed third-hand. We received no evidence, no follow-up from authorities, & no contact from the person allegedly involved. While that doesn’t mean harm didn’t happen, it is us sharing that we can’t control what we don’t know, and where we grow from there is our responsibility.

Advocacy is critical, & real advocacy requires integrity. We support those who do this work every day with oversight, education, & their names & licenses on the line. That’s not what’s happening here

Watching unlicensed influencers & anonymous pages posture as the experts rewriting stories & reputations with no accountability. Sharing voices is one thing, but when you twist facts to fit a narrative, it stops being about truth. It becomes performance especially on a monetized account.

Also on Preston:

There’s a dangerous narrative going around that Preston’s daughter called 911 after he “strangled someone until they passed out” That is false. The police report confirms it was the kids grandmother who made the call without being present & that no such strangulation or loss of consciousness occurred.

The YWCA is not court-ordered therapy, they independently chose to support Preston based on facts, not public perception. He still has custody of his kids today. If the other narrative were true, he wouldn’t

So with all that said

we’re here & ready & willing to chat with anyone that would like to. We’re not above criticisms & always looking to get better & be challenged. But sharing one side of narratives & cropped screenshots isn’t it. It’s not constructive for anyone in the process

We’ve continued to make changes & work internally on making safe spaces for the staff & the community. & we’ll keep doing the work to be better by @tscove

Been obsessing a bit over water and sugar content of cocktails. And it’s a great excuse to get behind the bar and “have to make 2 daiquiri’s right now” on a Friday night 🤷

Refractometers are great for standardization but they don’t account for water content, which means you can take many different ways to get to the same brix but brix is just one way of impacting the end cocktail. Water content almost plays the biggest factor.

I think they had it right 100 years ago just adding raw sugar right to the tin. Any bars making like 3:1 or 4:1 syrups right now? by @tscove

Calhoun street you were a good first ice shop 🧊 but it was time for something a little bigger and little more prepared (read: not a fire hazard)

In 5 years we went from 1 machine to 14, 1 freezer to 5, 0 CNC to 3, 0 employees to 9, and 1 state to 4. I couldn’t fathom ever achieving this kind of growth and can’t believe what this has become after a few bartenders decided Indiana (and beyond) needed some clear ice for its bars, and meeting some like minded people in Ohio that were more ambitious than we were. 2024 was a huge year for Big Ice and I’m so excited to see where it continues to go 💙 taken in Fort Wayne, Indiana by @tscove

Gotta give a shoutout to @p__mack for all this dudes hard work on making DORA happen in Fort Wayne that launched today after about a year of work 👏

No one would know it and he would never take the credit but, if it wasn’t for him and all his efforts Fort Wayne wouldn’t yet have this fun new addition that many other cities have. It’s a testament to the growth seen and felt in our wonderful city and its thanks to people like Preston for doing all the work 🙏 not to mention doing all that work on top of running a few bars, being a single dad, and an entire other career. Happy to call you a business partner and best friend! Congrats dude 🤘 taken in Fort Wayne, Indiana by @tscove

Still can’t believe we’re coming up on 2 weeks being open. What a wild 3.5 years to finally be here 😳 Feels like just yesterday we were staying up till 3am working on pitch decks and coming up with the ideas of @drinkatdanas @nighttrain.bar and @thebluebottleshop which is even crazier to think this was well before @penny.drip was even a thought. And now @bebetter.hospitality is off and doing the damn thing we set out to do. (I sincerely hope to never move a fridge again).

To open another concept is another reminder that this job takes a village. The amount of people that have shown up and volunteered their time to lift boxes, unpack trucks, organize glassware, stitch curtains, build furniture, run to the hardware store for the 4th time that day, buy dinner, or even just to provide some moral support is so amazing, humbling, and inspiring. I would be no where in my life if it wasn’t for the village of people that support me and I will forever be grateful to all of you.

Most notably thanks to my amazing wife Abbi for finding time to work her own career but also take care of our home (and Archi, of course) and still find time to come help a hand or show up with water to make sure we’re all staying hydrated. Sam, Preston, Jeorgia, and Spencer - there is no one else I would ever want to do this with and you all make me better. Words don’t describe what you each mean to me and you all constantly humble me, push me, and drive us to new heights. To call you business partners feels like an understatement. To Adam - I am so thankful and grateful to have met you and couldn’t imagine doing this project with you leading the kitchen. You have some serious skills not just as a chef but a leader as well and I’m so looking forward to what the future holds. To everyone who took a chance with us and joined the team at these new concepts you all kick so much ass and it is an absolute joy to work with you all every day.

There are so many more that deserve thanks that cant fit but again, I am forever grateful for all the support, advice, and encouragement over the years.

To everyone else out there - Come see us on The Landing and come see how amazing Fort Wayne is! taken in Fort Wayne, Indiana by @tscove
