Notre troisième invité dans le cadre du cours de typographie arabe et latine sera Tarek al Sawwa qui, en ligne et en langue arabe, nous introduira à l’univers de TS Fonts et au site Fahress. La présentation aura lieu le 19 Octobre à 16h.

Tarek Alsawwa est un graphiste et créateur de polices de caractères arabes. Il est fondateur de TS Studio et cofondateur du projet Fahress dont la mission est l’archivage des polices de caractères arabes/perses. Il a lancé tsfonts en 2020 en Turquie et a depuis conçu plus de 70 polices de caractères – des polices commerciales aux créations sur mesure. Passionné par la calligraphie arabe classique, il aime la réinterpréter selon son propre style. Dans sa pratique, il s’efforce d’aborder chaque projet avec une approche et une typographie distinctes, afin d’explorer de nouveaux horizons et les vastes possibilités offertes par la typographie arabe.

ضيفنا الثالث هو طارق الصوّا، الذي سيعرّفنا —عبر الإنترنت وباللغة العربية— على عالم "TS Fonts" وموقع "Fahress". ستُقام المحاضرة في 19 أكتوبر عند الساعة الرابعة مساءً.

طارق الصوّا مصمّم غرافيك وخطوط طباعية، مؤسس تي إس استوديو «TS Studio» وشريك مؤسس لمشروع فهرس «Fahress Archive». أسّس tsfonts عام ٢٠٢٠ في تركيا، وعمل منذ ذلك الحين على تصميم أكثر من ٧٠ خطًا، تنوّعت ما بين خطوط تجارية وأخرى مخصصة. ينجذب إلى الخطوط العربية الكلاسيكية ويهوى إعادة صياغتها بأسلوبه الخاص، ويركّز خلال عمله على خوض كل مشروع بتجربة وخط مختلفين، لاكتشاف آفاق وإمكانيات أكبر للحروف الطباعية العربية.

Our third guest — Tarek Alsawwa is a graphic and type designer who is the founder of TS Studio and the co-founder of the Fahress archive. He launched TS Fonts in Turkey in 2020 and has since designed over 70 typefaces, ranging from retail fonts to bespoke designs. Passionate about classical Arabic calligraphy, he enjoys reinterpreting it through his own unique approach. In his work, he strives to tackle every project with a distinct perspective, aiming to explore new horizons and the vast possibilities offered by Arabic typography.

TS Goal is a variable sans-serif typeface. Its Arabic letterforms are built on geometric Kufic script, giving the typeface a strong, modern, and dynamic character.
The typeface includes 4 variable axes: weight, height, width, and slant.

In designing the font, special attention was given to baseline stability, avoiding excessive vertical jumps that can cause collisions between lines. This was one of the main challenges, especially in handling the relationships between different letters. The result is a set of forms drawing on Diwani, Ruq’ah, and Naskh influences, harmonized into a coherent system that maintains both readability and visual rhythm without disrupting the text’s balance.
