FROM CORPORATE CAREER TO BUSINESS OWNER | Meet Millie Goetz, NP ✨

After 20 years in ICU and Cardiology at Hendrick Medical Center, Millie Goetz felt called to pursue something beyond traditional medicine: a more personalized approach to preventative care, wellness, and confidence from the inside out.

In 2021, Millie and longtime friend Cara began dreaming of a space dedicated to comprehensive, individualized care. While Millie pursued advanced training in medical aesthetics, wellness, and functional medicine, Cara expanded her expertise in medical massage therapy. Cara opened a small massage practice, and Millie joined part-time, offering vitamin therapy and cosmetic injections.

As their vision grew, so did their ambition. In spring 2022, after navigating early challenges and investing in their professional and business development, Big Country Medical Spa officially opened its doors!

What began with five massage therapists, one esthetician, and two front office employees has grown into a team of more than 20! Today, that includes nine massage therapists specializing in medical bodywork, lymphatic drainage, TMJ release, Thai massage, and Ashiatsu; three aestheticians; a medical director; two board-certified nurse practitioners; a registered nurse; a medical assistant; and a dedicated office manager and front office team.

But behind that growth was one of Millie's biggest leaps of faith: leaving a secure, established cardiology career, steady paycheck, and corporate benefits to build something of her own. With faith, prayer, family support, discipline, and a few fewer Amazon splurges, she discovered that purpose-driven work is worth the risk.

HER ADVICE TO WOMEN IN BUSINESS:

"Build a business you’re passionate about, have patience with the process, and stay persistent through the challenges. Build a culture where people feel valued. Take care of your team, stay true to your purpose, and let profit be a result of what you build, not the reason you build it." — Millie Goetz, NP

Here's to women who bet on themselves, build with purpose, and create opportunities for others along the way. We're proud to scout them right here in Abilene! by @tsgabilene
