Today, we open our new home at @_themallofafrica Every detail of this space was designed to reflect the feeling of TSHEPO - warmth, texture, calm and permanence. As I stood in the space, I kept thinking about this one single idea that I hold true, that I would die for: That African creativity deserves to exist at the highest level. We’re not closing. We’re transforming. Last week, I received so many messages from people worried we were shutting down for good. We’re not closing, we’re getting a facelift 💪🏿 Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing our progress: fabric choices, materials, and all the details that make this space truly special. A Decade of TSHEPO Jeans 10 years ago, I took a leap of faith and started this denim journey—one that has inspired, influenced, and shaped so many lives. Looking back now, through the highs and the lowest lows, even escaping death a few times, I see nothing but purpose. Every challenge, every victory—it all led to this moment. This year marks the beginning of a new era, both for me and for TSHEPO Jeans. I’m beyond proud of the incredible team that keeps this brand alive, but most importantly, I’m grateful for YOU—our friends, mentors, sponsors, customers, and the unpaid brand ambassadors who ride with us every step of the way. You push us to be better, and for that, I salute you. We’ve got big celebrations planned and some serious heat cooking in the kitchen. It’s been a month since we opened our home in Cape Town. When we designed the store, we didn’t want to create another retail space. We wanted to create somewhere that felt familiar. A place to sit. To talk. To discover. To stay a little longer. There is something deeply South African about the way we welcome people into our homes. You make space. You offer a seat. You share stories. You make people feel that they belong. That feeling became the starting point for the store. The timber, the warm light, the furniture, the objects, the clothes, every detail was considered around one question: How should it feel when someone walks through our door? One month in, watching people spend time in the space has meant more to me than simply seeing people shop. Today felt important. I spent the day at home with my team and my grandparents (Magriza & Rato). They shared stories about the boy I was, the home that raised me, the values that shaped me and some of the moments that made me who I am. My team asked questions, listened and got to understand something deeper than the brand. They got to understand the why behind the man behind TSHEPO. Before the stores, the clothes, the milestones and the business, there was family. There was sacrifice. There was love. There were people who believed in me long before there was anything to believe in. Some things can’t be explained in a boardroom. I’ve been eyeing Cape Town for the past four years. At one point, a landlord said, “We don’t need another denim brand.” But @tshepojeans was never just another denim brand. It has always been a vessel for African stories, African craft and a new era of African brands standing confidently in the world. So this moment means a lot. A new city.
