On the road, & preferably the less traveled 1's!!!
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Stoked about my 1st Ashland Hill Climb!!! 9th overall, & caught an award for the 3rd Place Male Master(over 40y/o)!! 2:13:46.
Told the wifey, "I feel confident I can go under 2.5hours, but I'd be happy if it's closer to 2hrs than the 2.5!" So over 1 minute into the HappyZone😜 Main goal from 1st time I looked into this race about a year &half ago was to have total race pace be under 10minutes per mile, so 9:55 was a win!!
So I didn't really have a solid plan for this past taper week. Then on a meaningless, time killing lil run Tuesday I rolled my ankle just bad enough to think I might not be able to race. Hit the ice, heat, ice, heat for a couple days while compressed & elevated majority of days. After the 1st couple days I switched to strictly heat & kept on the elevated & compressed vibes. I didn't wear nothing but a croc until I laced up my trainers this morning for a warmup. 1st few steps were awkward, but improved every step! & When I switched to my more minimal racing shoe, it felt way better. It did not slow me down at all today. Deep down I feel like God probably knew the only way Id get some solid rest was to put me on the dirt & have me think it might not happen😂.
I actually made this account strictly for traveling & don't post much running content on it. However, my travel vibe is majority "trailhead hunting", & as time goes on this is my account of choice, & where I feel most comfortable sharing thoughts & feelings. Now that I got my goal race knocked out, it's family hiking season. Journey's all healed up & wifey's ready & raring to go!! taken in Mount Ashland by @tsixfam

Never heard of Alamogordo until 2026.
& After almost 2 weeks here, at Dog Canyon Dispersed camp, about 15miles south of town, we are definitely fans!! City has everything you need, & I've never felt "stuck" in traffic in anyway at all👌.
If you're ankles can handle some Rocky terrain, the trails are pretty awesome with plenty accessible from town. If it gets hot you can easily retreat to or around Cloudcroft for some trailheads that start in the 8k-9k elevation range. 👌❤️✌️ taken in Dog Canyon Historical Marker by @tsixfam

Over the last 5yrs as we planned for this 2nd edition of "vanlife", the wifey & I never once said, "I can't wait to snowbird in Texas!"!!!!!! Any1 who's spent very much time on the road knows plans change. Hell, any1 who is a parent/guardian knows, things change quick & u gotta do what u gotta do. So parents trying to live "vanlife" better be constantly ready to pivot, no matter what the reason is.
We've had some good weekends with the kid as she knocks out A-school at Fort Sam Houston, but we gotta get in some mountain air B4 graduation. It's not Death Valley, but I now know Texas has some good options of campgrounds where we can save $$$ & survive winter in almost any setup!! Onto the Next 1!!❤️✌️ taken in Texas, USA by @tsixfam

BEASTMODE!!❤️❤️
Real Talk: after toting around that low profile cargo trailer for a few years ground clearance ranked pretty high on the camper hunt. We pretty much chose this model NoBo with BeastMode B4 we saw in person. At 1st glance all I could think is "is that too much?" After 1000+ miles of test driving & 1 wake up in Colorado, I sooooo happy I got this independent suspension!!! We gonna hit a few 1-nighters on our way back to last spot we saw our cat, Oscar, by Great Basin Natty Park. I know the odds are low, but damn that would be 1 hell of a reunion.🙏🤞🙏🤞

My wifey, kiddo, & I left KY back in 2018 not knowing exactly what was ahead of us. We were in a rebuilding phase, & wanted some new scenery & thought Colorado Springs would work. By the end of a 6month lease we were in love with mountains, but not city life. We fell in love with creek walking & camping, & just loved to see new remote places. I was super intrigued by all the full-time travelers, & didn't care if they were #vanlifers , trailer toters, or Subie sleepers. I just loved the idea of cutting the hotels & motels outta the whole travel equation, & I wanted in.
At this point in life, my wife was at her lowest, & the only time she could hold a smile was if we were actively doing stuff like hiking, roller blading, or creek walking. In order for her to stay distracted while sitting, I'd drive to new beautiful places. My kid was 10-11, full of energy & still loved hugs & kisses from her mom & dad regularly. The rides weren't the kid favorite part, but she loved playing in new places constantly. In our "cheap" lil apartment in CO Springs I researched sooooo many different ways that we could possibly get into this way of living. Wife & I are both disabled Veterans, but fresh off of a bankruptcy after getting f***ed by FEMA, finances weren't on point. Bottomline: the best thing I could come up with was a 6x12 insulated trailer & pull it with our 2WD 2.5liter Ford Escape 🤷
We planned to hit all 48 state caps as we home-schooled the kiddo thru 6th grade.✅ Early on the kiddo decides she wants to go back to public school, so we planned to pick a spot after we hit all 48✅ Wifey & I missed full-time travel & decided to continue once the kiddo goes to college. Well, here we are, but college has been put on hold, cuz our girl is joining the Navy. She leaves September 8th🥹🥹.
I started this account shortly after our 1st year of full time travel, cuz I wanted to have an account strictly for when we got back on the road. I have intentionally only followed accounts of other travelers or outdoor product accounts, & zero individuals that I know. I feel like I lost multiple relationships(friends& family)from simply posting about our last venture. by @tsixfam

Last few times I pulled my trailer across the US with that Ford Escape I swore I would never do it again. Now we can confidently say, “we will never do that again!” The 2018 Escape has about 205,000 miles on it & since getting transmission rebuilt at around 50k, she’s holding strong as my kiddo’s daily driver.
Less than 10 miles of pulling the trailer with our Tundra & I can’t believe we pulled it 50,000+ miles, across 48 states with that base model 2.5l 2WD Ford Escape😂, but here we are!
My kiddo still hasn’t decided on a college to attend next year, but she’s applied all across the US. No matter what we are going to make our way to KY for a nice family visit & use the trailer as home base once again. Then we’ll get the kiddo settled into to college some where, & the wifey, our 2 cats, 1 dog, & myself will be calling this lil 6x12 “home” once again!!❤️Can’t wait to say BYE to city living hopefully 4EVER🤞🙏❤️✌️ taken in Klamath Falls, Oregon by @tsixfam
