22 July 2024… a day that changed our lives forever.

This video tells the story of that day – the day we faced death multiple times, the day my brother Fares was severely injured, and the day we lost dear friends and everything around us.

Since then, Fares has been living in pain, undergoing surgery after surgery, and struggling to recover under the harshest conditions imaginable.

Nothing has been the same since that day. We are still fighting every moment to survive and to heal.

Today marks 2 years since I was bombed. Since I felt everything dark around my and I stopped feeling my arm for a moment. The day when I lost myself there and my friends.

I underwent 9 surgeries, I slept days in hospital without painkillers or anasthesia, months without healthy food to recover my bones, I lived with 8cm gap between my broken bones, two years of being paralyzed from using my right arm, months and months of suffering.

Today, I am in Italy, I had a new chance and “I didn’t die!”. Today I am celebrating a new chance, turning a dark moment in my life into a hope. But even though, the pain is still the same and it will never leave me.

@ttarekk7 and @fares_alfarra05 who most of you know from my videos are still raising funds for their families still in Gaza. Also @fares_alfarra05 wrote a book about his experiences in Gaza, the injury that nearly ended his life and his evacuation! If you donate the equivalent of €25 you’ll receive a copy of his book, but even smaller amounts go a long way to help the Alfarra family in Gaza… even as much as a cup of coffee! Un libro può raccontare una storia. Può anche cambiarne una.

Oggi nasce Book Club Alfarra, un’iniziativa realizzata insieme ad Another Coffee Stories.

L’idea è semplice: con una donazione minima di 25€, riceverai un libro a sorpresa e, allo stesso tempo, offrirai un aiuto concreto alla mia famiglia, che si trova ancora a Gaza e continua a lottare ogni giorno per soddisfare i bisogni più essenziali.

Per noi questo progetto va oltre una semplice raccolta fondi. È il desiderio di costruire una comunità di lettori che creda nel potere delle storie, nella solidarietà e nella capacità della lettura di trasformarsi in un gesto concreto di sostegno.

Had a little catch up with @ttarekk7 about life post evacuation from Gaza. For those able, please donate to Tarek’s campaign to help his family who are still in Gaza- they recently experienced a bad fire to their tent and could use all the help they can get.

Things in Gaza are not getting better, they are getting decidedly worse. We need to turn up the volume on Gaza and amplify the voices of Palestinians both within Gaza and the diaspora.

My love for Palestinians and all the friends I’ve made in Gaza will never end. We’ve just come out of pride month and what I have been the most proud of this year are the friendships I have made with these people. I only hope these videos can help others love them as much as I do.

Approximately 60 Palestinian students in Gaza have already been awarded scholarships by Italian universities since October 2025.

They were accepted with the understanding that Italian universities would support them in continuing their education and rebuilding their futures.

Today, however, many of these students remain trapped in Gaza because of newly introduced administrative requirements, including an Italian language certification that was not part of the original conditions under which they were selected.

For students living under bombardment, displacement, and the collapse of the education system, a scholarship is far more than an academic opportunity-it is a lifeline.

Italian can be learned after arrival through university language programs.
Time, safety, and lives cannot be recovered.

I respectfully appeal to Italian universities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Education to urgently work together to ensure that these students are evacuated without further delay and allowed to begin the education they have already earned.

I was honoured to participate in the screening and discussion of Erasmus a Gaza in Turin, where I had the opportunity to share my personal experience as a student from Gaza alongside filmmaker @fatena_karim , with the participation of Member of the European Parliament Benedetta Scuderi @benni.scuderi and other distinguished guests.

During the discussion, we reflected on the role of education, academic mobility, and international solidarity in times of conflict, as well as the challenges faced by Palestinian students whose educational paths have been profoundly affected by the ongoing war.

I also highlighted the urgent situation of Palestinian students currently trapped in Gaza who have already been awarded scholarships and admitted to Italian universities, yet whose evacuation and access to higher education are being jeopardized by recently introduced administrative and procedural obstacles.

The right to education must remain protected, especially for those whose futures have already been shaped by displacement, conflict, and uncertainty.

My sincere thanks to the organizers, speakers, and everyone who attended and contributed to this important conversation.
