From the shallow waters of Grand Caymanโ€™s North Sound, where stingrays glide across the sandbar, to the dramatic Bluff of Cayman Brac and the vibrant coral reefs surrounding Little Cayman, our natural habitats are an important part of what makes the Cayman Islands so special. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡พ

Today, on World Habitat Day, we celebrate the remarkable environments found across our three Islands โ€” and the wildlife that call them home. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฆœ

We encourage residents and visitors alike to get out and responsibly experience these natural treasures for themselves. Observe wildlife with care, respect protected areas and always leave the places you visit as beautiful as you found them. ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฑ

Today, the Cayman Islands joins the global community in celebrating the importance of tourism to our economies, communities and way of life. ๐ŸŒŽ

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œDigital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,โ€ invites us to consider the opportunities technology and AI are creating for travellers, businesses and destinations around the world.โœˆ๏ธ

In his World Tourism Day message, Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism & Trade Development, Hon. Gary Rutty, reflects on Caymanโ€™s approach to that changing landscape โ€” embracing innovation while ensuring that our people, culture and environment remain at the heart of the Cayman Islands experience.

Because technology may change how people discover and experience our Islands, but it can never replace the warmth of a Caymanian welcome.๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡พ

Happy World Tourism Day!๐Ÿฅณ

As the Cayman Islands observes Preparedness Week, 16โ€“23 September, weโ€™re encouraging everyone across our three Islands to take some time to review their emergency plans. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Take some time this week to make sure you:

๐Ÿ  Know the location of your nearest hurricane shelter
๐Ÿš—Have plan for how you will get there if necessary
๐Ÿ’Š Ensure you have an adequate supply of essential and prescription medications
๐Ÿ”ฆ Have battery-operated flashlights and radios AND spare batteries
๐Ÿฅซ Have adequate ready-to-eat, non-perishable foods
๐Ÿ’ง Store sufficient drinking water for every member of your household - @caymanprepared recommends one gallon per person, per day
๐Ÿ’ต Keep a reasonable amount of emergency cash somewhere safe and accessible.
๐Ÿ“„ Protect passports, insurance information and other important documents in waterproof containers.

Preparedness is not about waiting until a storm is approaching. It is about having a plan, knowing where to find reliable information and making sure you and your family have what you need before an emergency occurs.๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

For hurricane preparedness guides, shelter information and other resources, visit CaymanPrepared.ky. Residents can also register for HMCI's National Emergency Notification System (NENS) to receive verified emergency alerts. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡พ
