26 frickin years old.

There were so many nights I swore I’d never make it here. At 12, everything I knew was ripped away. I was forced to grow up too fast, carrying an ache that never really left. At 14, I lost my angel on earth, mam maw, and in that moment the world became colder, heavier, and lonelier than I ever imagined it could be.

The years that followed were survival mode—foster homes, group homes, being kicked out, bouncing from place to place with nothing certain except the feeling that I didn’t belong anywhere. I learned to carry my pain in silence, to convince myself I wasn’t worth staying for, and to believe I’d never see 26. I didn’t think I deserved to.

But somehow, I survived. Somehow, even in all that darkness, there was a thread pulling me forward. And on that path, I found something I never thought I would—love. Real love. The most beautiful, selfless, and unconditional family who showed me what “home” truly feels like. Who remind me that I am not too broken, not too lost, and not too late to be loved.

So today isn’t just a birthday. It’s a victory. It’s every scar turned into survival, every loss turned into a lesson, every tear turned into proof that I am still here.

at 26, i look back at every version of me who felt unseen, unwanted, and alone and i just want to tell them, we made it. i’m surrounded by love i once didn’t believe existed, and i’m so grateful for every soul who’s become part of my journey.
